Zane skips inside. “Now you know how it feels to be interrupted.”

Miles glares at him. “I’ve never interrupted you and Sloane.”

Zane grabs the tray of hamburgers and hot dogs from the refrigerator. “I didn’t say you did.”

“You…”

I shackle Miles’s wrist before he goes after his brother. “This is a party. No fighting.”

“Fine,” he pouts. “But you owe me.”

I wiggle my eyebrows. “However will I pay?”

He palms my cheeks. “We have the rest of our lives to figure out a payment system.”

I grin. “Yes, we do because you are not leaving me again. I won’t let you.”

“Don’t worry, my bloodthirsty Blaze. I don’t plan on leaving you until the last breath leaves my body.”

“I love you, surfer boy.”

“And I love you.” His mouth melds to mine and I melt into him. It’s only been three days, but I missed my surfer boy. I wrap my arms around him and he presses his hard length into my stomach. My panties dampen in response. Maybe it is time to fool around on the sofa after all.

“Stop making out!” Kai shouts through the window.

Miles tears his mouth from mine. “I love you, but I hate my brothers.”

I bury my face in his chest to hide my laughter. This is where I belong. Where I’ve always belonged. I just needed to get over myself first. Mission accomplished.

Chapter 36

Home is not always where you expect it to be.

A few weeks later

Miles

Iuse the key Hazel gave me to enter her apartment. “Blaze! You home?”

“In the kitchen.”

I freeze at the entrance and lift my hands in the air. “I’m unarmed. Don’t hurt me.”

She scowls at me. “It’s a screwdriver. Not a weapon.”

“I don’t know. The last time you used a screwdriver, police showed up.”

“It wasn’t the police. It was the fire department. Which was completely over the top, considering there was barely any smoke coming out of the toaster.”

“But the toaster was toast.”

“Ha! Ha! Pun intended.”

“Why do you have the screwdriver out again?”

She waves it at me. “Don’t you mean how did I find the screwdriver?”

Confession. I hid all the tools after the last fiasco. I don’t have a problem with women making repairs. I do have a problem with Hazel thinking a hammer is a good implement to separate frozen hamburger patties. It’s not.
