“No, but you’re what I want. If you’ll have me.”

Kace blinked, his eyes returning to forest green. His lips crushed to hers, and she opened for him without hesitation. He tasted of steel, rain and embers. A violence so tightly concealed she couldn’t wait to coax it out.

Mine, she thought as his hands brushed down her sides to settle heavily on her hips. He’s all mine.

His breath came out in a growl when he pulled back only to rest his forehead against hers. “The ring,” he said, hand tightening as if he was scared she would pull away. “I keep it as a warning to anyone who ever thinks about hurting you.”

“Don’t you think he was my revenge?”

“Yes,” he said with a smirk, unrepentant.

“Ugh, you’re insufferable!” she laughed, smacking him against the chest.

“Always.” His smile strained, his lashes dropping to hide his expression. “I believed I never had a heart, having been ripped out long ago on those claret sands. Then there you were, my beast stunned into silence as you threatened me with a fucking frying pan.”

“It was a wok.”

“Brat.” Kace nipped along her lip. “Eva, it’s not just me anymore, it’s Hunter too. He needs…”

Eva silenced him with a kiss. She had dreamt of a white wedding, and a large house with children playing in the garden. Instead she has a broody barbarian, who kissed her with such intensity it was like she was the only other person in existence, and a just as moody teenager.

What more could she ask for?

Happiness pulsed in her chest, her cheeks stretched to the edge of pain. “So, will you dance with me?”

His eyes were a brand, voice a dark rasp. “Eva, you’re the light to my darkness. You were always mine, and I will dance with you now, forever and always.”
