“Nothing… yet. But don’t be surprised if the Zataras heads back towards Earth soon.”
Laila turned to meet Zac’s eyes.
“You can’t give us anything more than that?”
“There’s nothing more to give,” Karik said, spreading his hands wide. “I’ll leave you to your guests. Congratulations, once again.”
Laila watched as Karik walked away, “He can be really irritating sometimes.”
“Just sometimes?” Zac snorted. “He knows exactly what he’s doing. Forget about it. If he had more to tell us, he would have. Let’s enjoy the party.”
Laila smiled, pushing Karik’s words to the back of her mind. The future might not be smooth, but she and Zac would be together. She leaned into his side as he wrapped an arm around her and dropped a kiss on her upturned lips.
“My precious heart,” he whispered.
“Always,” she replied, smiling.
