Christian and Cole arrived together, laughing at something as I opened the front door.

I eyed them suspiciously. “Didn’t expect you both to be here at the same time.”

Cole shrugged. “Great minds think alike, I guess.” He waltzed past me and into my house without commenting further.

“You all right?” Christian asked, making no move to go inside.

“It’s not me that broke anything.”

He rolled his eyes. “I know that, and that’s not what I meant.”

Yeah, I knew he was referring to our conversation the other day, but I really didn’t want to get into it right then. “Get inside before you let all the cold air in.”

Thankfully he came in and let the subject drop.

My bag sat at the bottom of the stairs and Christian gestured to it. “You ready to leave?”

“Yeah, got to head out in the next five minutes or so. I was just waiting for one of you to get here.”

“And now you have us both.”

“Yep. Lucky me.” Or should I say, lucky Jasper.

God, I hoped the three of them would be all right together.

Chapter 12

Jasper

I sat on the sofa,Angus on my knee, with Cole and Christian staring at me with gleeful looks on their faces. “What?” Finn hadn’t been gone five minutes before they sat down with intent.

Cole nudged my foot with his. “What’s going on between you and my brother?”

“Nothing at the moment,” I grumbled, glaring at my sling. “I’m a bit incapacitated.”

He perked up. “Oh, so there would be something if you didn’t have a broken wrist?”

Angus stretched out on my lap and I took the opportunity to stroke his belly while I thought about how to answer. “Maybe.” I mean, I’d thought we were headed there with how Finn had acted last night, but then this morning... “I don’t know.”

Christian sat back in his seat and linked his hands behind his head. “Ordinarily I wouldn’t endorse discussing Finn while he’s not here...” He gave me a considering look. “And I don’t want to interfere in your relationship; it’s not my place.” He shot Cole a pointed glare. “Or yours.”

“But?” I raised my eyebrows because I knew he was going somewhere with this.

He smiled. “I think I have an answer to one of the things that might be holding him back. If you’re willing to listen?”

I nodded, then listened intently to what he had to say.

Knackeredfrom my interrupted night’s sleep, I went to bed early that night. In my own bed this time. Cole had made dinner, and thanks to me wearing joggers, I hadn’t needed help going to the loo this time. Although I’d had to ask Cole to put toothpaste on my toothbrush for me.

“Hey.”

I looked up from my perch on the edge of the bed to see Cole lurking in my doorway. “What’s up?”

“I was just checking if you needed anything else before I go back downstairs. Christian and I are going to watch a film.”

I smirked. “Are you now?”

“Fuck off, you’re as bad as Finn.” Then he grinned. “It’s him who has the hots for his brother’s best mate. Not me.”
