Archie stood there with another man next to him and a duffel bag on the table. Guess that was payment.
“Matt, it’s great to see you again,” Archie said, shaking his hand. His eyes flicked over to Callum and me. “Do my eyes deceive me? Callum Brown and Sebastian Knight together? Word on the street was you two wanted to kill each other.”
“Don’t believe everything you hear,” Callum said.
I mean, I still wanted to kill him. I just couldn’t touch him without running the risk of Aria ever finding out.
“You got what I asked for?” Archie said, rubbing his hands together.
I nodded towards Matt, who placed the three Glock 19s, two Sig Sauer P226S, a Remington 870, and an AK-47 on the table for him to check over. Archie’s smile widened, and he stepped over, picking up a Glock and pulling the barrel back to click it.
“The ammo, extra mags, and suppressors are in the bag, like you requested,” Matt added.
Archie placed the Glock back and picked up the AK, admiring it for a few beats.
“I’m going to have fun using these.” He smirked.
I was sure he was. Just as long as it was nowhere near us, he could do what the fuck he liked. He gave his man a nod, and he started to pack the guns away.
The door slammed shut, and I turned sharply to see two men walking towards us.
Not a good sign.
“I’ve decided I didn’t like the price you were offering,” Archie said.
Was this guy serious? This …nobodythought he could try to do us over?
“The price is fair, Archie. If you don’t like it, then go fucking find someone else,” I warned.
He let out a small laugh. “Sebastian, you’ve been out of the game for a while now. I’ve heard you’ve gone soft.”
I pulled my Glock on him. “Shall I show you how soft I’ve gone?” I said through gritted teeth.
A cold barrel pressed against the back of my head, and I knew then that this was a setup. This fucker wanted the firearms and the money. He had no intention of making a deal. I should have fucking known, but my mind had been elsewhere tonight.
Callum yawned. “God, how original, a setup.” He gave me a subtle nod. A warning. Then—
BANG!
Callum shot Archie in the head.
Spinning around, I disarmed the man behind me, then shot him straight through his chin. The warmth of blood splattered over my face, and I looked down to find my shirt covered in it.
Matt had already taken out the other two.
I turned to see Callum placing his gun back in his holster, as I looked at the men dead on the floor.
“You owe me a new shirt,” I told him.
He left out a breath. “Thanks for saving my life, Callum,” he mocked.
I guess he did just save my life. Which was odd, really, because I was adamant he wanted to kill me, as I did him. Maybe I’d gotten it wrong about him. Maybe he did do all this for Aria. Either way, I wasn’t going to say thank you anytime soon.
“I’m sorry, Sebastian. If I’d known …” Matt trailed off.
“It’s not your fault. It’s that piece of shit who thought he could get away with it.”
I pulled my phone from my pocket, my thumb hovering over the number before I dialled Soran.
