His eyes widened. Still nothing could come out his mouth. He was basically locked in his own body. “He had some flunkies come shoot at me and my family at my homie’s funeral. How you think he would like it if I played God and put you out your fucking misery?”

I was kind enough to adjust the pillow behind him since it looked a little flat. It had to be uncomfortable as fuck.

A deep and sinister chuckle poured out of me. I noticed that the camera had lit up, which meant someone was on the feed watching.

“Get the fuck away from him!” Silas bitched through the camera feed.

That nigga landed right in the palm of my hand. He was doing all this ducking and hiding, sending his weak-ass do-boys to do all his dirty work. I wanted to get up with that nigga man to man.

I pulled my gun from behind me and held it up to Anthony’s head. His eyes peeled back wide, and his face went fucking pale. I imagined knowing a nigga could whack me and I couldn’t do shit about it because I was a fucking carrot. Shit had to be scary as fuck, and I knew he would be due for a diaper change as soon as I rolled up out of here.

“We just chopping it up, Si. What’s the problem?”

“Bitch, I swear on my kids, if you do anything to him, I’m gone slit your fucking throat!” he continued to threaten.

His threats were amusing. He wasn’t about none of the shit he was talking about. I knew that. He knew that. Even his fucking brother knew that.

“I’m just letting little Anthony know how much of a bitch his big bro is. You may end up in a bed right next to him in this bitch. I’ll come visit you from time to time and chat with you just like I’m doing with Ant. Ain’t that right?” I caressed his face with the cold barrel of my gun.

I clenched a handful of Anthony’s curls and forced him to nod his head. “See, even lil bro agreeing with me.” I dropped his head back onto the pillow with a thud.

“Don’t fucking touch him!” Silas was losing his shit. He couldn’t get to me fast enough, and I knew that shit was killing him.

“Too fucking late, pussy! You fucked with me and mine, and now I’m showing you I can do the fucking same. This shit is about access. If I wanna hurt you, I’m not gone start in the streets. I’ll just put a fucking bullet in little Anthony’s head. You feel me?” I looked directly into the camera so Silas could see I wasn’t on bullshit. I was dead fucking serious. “When you stop being a hoe and wanna get at me for real, holla at me. And send some real shooters next time.”

I set a kiss on the top of Anthony’s head before walking out. I tucked my gun behind me before hitting the elevator to head down. J’Ru was posted up in front of his mother’s door, waiting for me.

“Handled it?”

“No doubt,” I chuckled. “How Ma like the flowers?”

“She loved ’em. Told her they were from your ugly ass.” He dapped me up as we walked out.

“Good looks. See you at Sunday dinner.”

“Heard’ju.”

We went our separate ways.

Silas really turned me up as soon as he had bullets flying in the vicinity of my son and wife. I was done playing patty cake with this nigga. Now I had to show his ass why I was the chosen one.

Chapter Twelve

JAZZLYN

The city felta little empty without my right hand. Taylor left the concrete jungle and moved to Miami to be with her man Cinco. Miami was doing my girl well, and so was her relationship, but I sure did miss the convenience of pulling up sporadically to each other’s houses and planning impromptu shopping sprees.

“You look so good! I missed your fine ass!” We ran into each other’s arms. Taylor was the overly affectionate friend, so she made sure to grab a handful of my ass and kiss my cheek. I was sure people at the restaurant thought we were more than just besties.

We took our seats, and I smiled. “Thank you, sexy. You look gorgeous as always. What do they have in that Miami water?”

Taylor’s eyes trailed up to the sky as if she had to think. “Money, good sex, and a rich nigga who worships the ground I walk on.”

“Same shit in New York’s water too!” We busted out laughing while high-fiving each other.

It was always a good time when we were together. We had been friends for so long, we knew each other in and out.

Before we put in our orders, our other friends Angie and Zylynn arrived. We got up to hug them. I needed this girls day more than anything.
