“I don’t want you to think I can’t think of anything new to say, but you are so beautiful, it’s ridiculous.” He reached down for her ankle and planted her foot in the center of his chest. Using a delicate touch that made her squirm, he raked his fingers along her calf, past her knees and down her thigh. His left hand could have gone straight to her center if he’d continued, but instead he retreated, retracing his path. The frustration at work between her legs made her wriggle beneath his touch. His eyes never left her body; his gaze merely languished as it traveled up and down.

She wondered if he was waiting for her to panic, but that wasn’t going to happen. Not tonight. He’d done so much to make her comfortable. He’d already done so much to make her feel good. She couldn’t turn her back now. No way.

“I just realized I don’t have a condom. Tonight was supposed to be a night out with my brothers, not the best night ever.”

“I have one. Let me get it.”Thank God for Lucy.

Michael stretched out on the bed and folded his hands behind his head. The smile he gave her made her lightheaded. “Please hurry.”

“Hold your horses.”

“I’m serious.”

“Two seconds.” She flitted out into the hall to grab her bag.Oh, my God. We’re really going to do it.There had been many times when she’d doubted whether she would ever know this excitement with a man again. She flipped past her wallet and found the condoms Lucy had given her. She was back in the bedroom in seconds flat, thrusting the package into his hands and lying down next to him. The call of his skin was too much, especially with the allure of his abs so nearby. She traced up and down his belly with a finger while he tore open the foil pouch.

“You’re killing me, you know.” He rolled on the condom and flipped her to her back. “Seriously killing me.” His eyes narrowed. He took on the hottest, most stern expression she could imagine. It was a stunning contrast to the way he normally was, always smiling, always ready to cut the tension with a joke. “I have to have you now.” He gripped the back of her thighs, lifting her hips off the bed to pull her closer. Once she was in place, he wrapped his hand around his cock and eased inside, clamping his eyes shut as he went. “Shit, Sabrina. You’re. Wow.”

I’m what?

“Absolutely amazing.”

A smile crossed her face as he lowered himself. He placed his hands on the mattress, bracketing her ribs and taking wonderfully long strokes. Sabrina focused on the sensation, the way he filled her so perfectly. If there was a female equivalent to the lasting power of a teenage boy, that was her. No amount of self-satisfaction she’d brought herself over the last two years could match Michael inside of her. Not even close.

They kissed tenderly, rocking together in a rhythm that surprised her for its ability to effortlessly fall into sync. It was as if their bodies had been made to do this together. Skin touching skin, the give and take between two people, the synergy involved in making love—it inundated her mind with sensory pleasures until all logical thought turned syrupy and there was nothing more than she and Michael making each other happy. Very, very happy.

She wanted it to last forever, but Michael had changed the angle of his approach, placing more of his body weight against her pelvic bone and grinding hard. Her breath caught as her body sputtered toward the peak. In some ways it was as if her body was no longer sure of what it was supposed to do, even when making love to Michael felt like second nature.

He whispered in her ear. “It’s okay, darling. Just relax.”

“Do I seem tense?” Her breath was ragged, coming out in tiny gasps. She opened her eyes and saw the concern painted all over his face.

“It’s okay. I promise it’s okay.”

She blew out a deep breath, willing her body to let go of the tension. In that moment, she chose to be kind to herself and remember that this wasn’t going to be perfect the first time. She rolled her head to the side and focused on the intense ache resonating from her clit. The pressure was immense. She was so wound up. There was only so much a body could take.

Michael ran his lips along her collarbone and kissed the hollow at the base of her throat. It felt like encouragement to let go. She knew that one thing would definitely send her sailing over the edge. “Michael—”

As if he knew what she was going to ask for, his lips clamped down on her nipple, sucking hard. He flicked at the tight bud with his tongue and a current of unmistakable power coursed through her. She arched her back and called out. He buried his head in her neck and his body froze, then shuddered with his own release.

His lips quickly found the tender spot beneath her ear. The kiss he placed there was so delicate and her body so sensitized to his touch, it took her breath away. He rolled to his side and pulled her body against his, kissing her on the lips, digging his fingers into her hair. Their feet tangled beneath the covers.

“You’re incredible, Sabrina. Truly incredible.”

“That was wonderful. I know it was probably hard to wait, but I’m glad we did.”

“I think it made it even better.”

“Really?”

“Yes.” He kissed her forehead. “I could feel how much trust you were putting in me. And I appreciate that. More than you know.”

“Can you stay tonight?” She trailed her fingers up and down his spine.

“I was just about to ask.” He kissed her tenderly on the lips. “There’s no way I have enough energy to make it all the way down the hall.”

CHAPTERTWELVE

Lucy placedone hand on Sabrina’s desk as she read the spreadsheet that had taken up most of Sabrina’s ten-hour workday. “Wow. That is a lot of new products.”
