“Yeah.”

“I was coming back from a race in Columbia.”

“Really? What was the crap about a buddy’s wedding?”

“Oh, he did get married but it was the day after the race so that part wasn’t a lie. Hal and Woody drove home with the equipment while I stayed another night.”

“Why didn’t you tell me you raced?”

“Would it have changed your opinion of me?”

I thought about his question and I realized that it might have. I would have developed a misconception about him and categorized him with Mack. I knew for sure that I wouldn’t be here with him now. If I’m honest with myself, I’m glad that he didn’t tell me about the racing and I had the chance to get to know him first.

“I’m glad that you’re full of surprises, Foxy.” I grinned up at him and kissed his lips. “We’d better start getting ready for the un-surprise party soon,” I said with a chuckle and patted his chest. “I’m going to need you to take me home in order to do that.”

“Okay, but I want you to get all your stuff and come back here.”

“Drew don’t start this, please. I’m living with Blake and Tayia. I’m happy there.”

Fox blew an exasperated sigh up to the ceiling. “Fine, but will you sleep here tonight?” he asked quietly.

“Yes,” I replied.

“And tomorrow night?”

“Drew.” When I cupped his face, he pulled me on top of him. I straddled his legs so that I could kiss him until all of the tension left his shoulders. I felt his cock harden beneath me and I lowered myself onto him. Soon we were lost in each other until our growing emotions consumed us and it was the only thing we cared about. Not the race. Not my living arrangements. Just Harley and Drew surrounded in pure bliss.

Chapter Twenty-Two

We ended up staying in bed for another hour and barely had time to get back to my place so that I could change before the party. Fox was sitting on my bed as I pulled on a black dress that Tayia let me borrow. I didn’t have many clothes, just what I could carry in my bag, a maxi dress, two tank tops, a pair of shorts, a pair of jeans, a bathing suit and a few underthings. Since I wore an Annette’s Catch T-shirt to work every day I was able to hide the fact that I had a limited amount of clothes. Not that I couldn’t afford to buy clothes because I was making pretty good tips. I still hadn’t decided if I was ready to get attached to this place. Out of habit I never kept more than I could quickly stuff into my bag and run with.

“You look hot,” Fox said as his eyes roamed my body. “Come here.” He reached for my hips as he pulled me to stand in front of him. It was a plain sheath dress but Tayia was a size smaller than me, so I filled it to its limit. Fox ran his hands down the curve of my hipbones as he eyed my breasts straining against the material and licked his lips. All I could think about was how stupid I was for even joking about this man being gay. His appetite for me was nearly insatiable and I loved it. I really wanted to see myself through his eyes. The girl from the night of the hurricane was nearly unrecognizable to me now. I didn’t think Fox would be the one to stick. Yet, here I was standing in front of him, opening my heart up to him a little more each time I looked into those eyes.

Fox started to run a hand up my bare thigh and under the skirt, but I stepped away.

“Stop it. We are going to be late. They’ll be plenty of time for that later, mister.” He gave a groan of protest and dropped his hands.

“Fine. Let’s go,” he said and stood from the bed, grabbed my hand and pulled me downstairs.

When we got outside Blake was in the garage working on his car. “Hey, remember, you and Tayia are invited to come by tonight,” Fox called out to him.

“Sounds good, man,” Blake replied with a wave. The two men had talked while Tayia was helping me find something to wear. Fox told me that he wanted to clear the air with Blake and make sure there were no hard feelings about the race and the fight with Showtime. Blake seemed to be okay with everything and said that there was nothing to apologize for. This was a relief because I really wanted these two men to get along. Fox, on the other hand, made it no secret to me that he didn’t like his girl sleeping under the same roof with another guy, even if it was Blake. While his concerns were valid, I couldn’t think of another solution. I still didn’t think it was a good idea to move in with Fox right now and I knew that’s what he wanted.

In fact, this was our conversation as we sat in the car parked outside of Catch.

“What if you still paid rent there but stayed at my house.”

“That’s ridiculous and would be a waste of money, Drew. Does this really have to be an issue right now?”

He didn’t respond as he stared out of the window for a moment while I sat there in silence. I wanted to make him happy by giving him what he’d asked for, but I felt I should do it because I was ready, not because I felt pressured. Eventually, he opened the door and got out of the car. I quickly followed and fell into step next to him. The restaurant was filled with people. Annette was flying around in a flurry of activity looking completely in her element. That woman thrived in the midst of chaos.

“Drew!” Annette called. “Good, you’re on time. I need you to go pick up Hal. I fixed it so that his car wouldn’t start.”

“Mama, what do you mean you fixed it so it wouldn’t start?”

“I don’t know, I just pulled something out and hid it.”

“Something like what?”
