Felix nearly rolled his eyes.

The man had forced him to drag himself out of bed at six in the morning just to call his wife—

and now he was sitting there pretending he didn’t care.

Still, Felix wisely kept his mouth shut.

He pressed the call button.

He fully expected Amara not to answer at this hour.

It wassixin the morning! Any normal person would still be asleep.

But unexpectedly—

The call connected after only the second ring.

Felix’s brows lifted slightly in surprise as he immediately glanced toward Elias.

“Hello…”

Amara’s voice came through the phone soft, groggy, and thick with sleep the moment she answered the call.

The moment Elias heard her voice through the speaker, his posture changed immediately.

He straightened on the couch at once, his lazy position disappearing completely as his attention locked onto the phone.

Felix cleared his throat awkwardly.

“Mrs. Creed, good morning,” he said politely.

He shifted slightly where he stood, clearly uncomfortable about waking her up this early in the morning.

“I wanted to speak with you regarding the divorce proceedings with Mr. Creed.”

There was rustling on the other side of the line. The sound of blankets shifting.

Then Amara’s sleepy voice came again, rougher this time.

“It’s Miss Hawk now,” she corrected softly. “Don’t call me Mrs. Creed.”

The atmosphere in the room changed immediately.

Elias’s brows snapped together hard.

The muscles in his jaw visibly tightened.

A dark displeased look crossed his face so quickly Felix almost regretted putting the phone on speaker.

She used to glare at anyone who dared call her “Miss Hawk” after the marriage.

And now?

Now she was correcting people herself.

Even before the divorce was finalized?

Felix immediately sensed the dangerous shift in Elias’s mood, but he forced himself to continue professionally.
