Blackhawk shook his head.

Oh, he wished it was the meds.

“No, it’s not you as high as a kite. This is my life, and now, you know why we don’t visit my family for the holidays,” he admitted, just grateful Gene didn’t know all of it.

Jesus.

He’d lose his mind.

Instead of saying anything more, Gene leaned over and kissed him. It was deep, it was heated, and it caught Ethan off guard.

Letting that heat fill him, Ethan just enjoyed the moment because he knew at some point, he’d have to be honest with Callen, Gene, and himself.

When Gene broke the kiss, he said one thing.

“I love you and your life.”

Oh, he hoped so.

“We have to get Sleeping Beauty into the hotel. I’ll go get the keys. Then, we’ll move him.”

Gene nodded.

“Gotcha, partner in crime.”

Ethan laughed more and got out. He headed in, and as he was checking them in, that’s when he caught motion from the corner of his eye.

As he looked over, he saw Gene carrying Callen in over his shoulder.

Oh, shit.

The only issue with that was that the concierge also saw it happening, and he was staring as a big bear of a man was carrying a bigger Native man over his shoulder.

Like he’d abducted and drugged him.

Yep.

Telenovela.

The bottom line was that Ethan had to get some control over this.

So, when in doubt, do what every Fed would do in that situation. He flashed his badge, and kept his fingers crossed.

“We’re transporting him for arrest. Don’t ask questions,” he said, pulling his jacket back and showing that he was armed too. “He’s wanted in a few states for…well, crimes.”

God.

He hoped Callen never had to come into this hotel for official business, or he was in for a shock.

That was for sure.

The man behind the desk just nodded.

And threw the keys at him.

Well, why the fuck not?

Truth be told, he would have done the same thing in his position.
