With its breezy, welcoming vibe and idyllic seaside setting, the café emanated a cheerful yet peaceful charm. It was Tammy’s kind of heaven.

She noticed a wooden bone-shaped sign in the window before they entered.

DOGS ARE WELCOME.

It was a nice touch and obviously great for business, as almost every other customer had a dog at their feet, or if small enough, on their laps.

There were fewer people inside, but it was still busy. Ben pointed to an empty table by the window. ‘Go and sit yourself down. I’ll get the tea.’

Tammy nodded with a smile and sat down looking about her and daydreaming about her parents having one of their first dates in the café.

Inside was equally as charming. The same chequered blue and white was on the plastic tablecloths that adorned each table. Tammy’s eyes wandered and she imagined what she’d do to the place if it was hers. Maybe a lick of paint, flowers on the tables, and pictures on the walls. The only thing that was hanging on the wall at the moment was a cork notice board. She squinted her eyes to read the cards pinned on it.
