Pleasure bloomed soft and intense, waves of it washing over me. I leaned into the window, the cool glass contrasting his heat, my breath fogging it as he kissed my back reverently.
The gentleness undid me and made me feel cherished, wanted in a way that cracked my walls. He picked up pace just enough, thrusts steady and loving, hitting deep spots that had me gasping.
"Come with me, Luna. Let go." Our bodies synced perfectly, tension coiling tighter until it snapped. Ecstasy crashed through us together; I cried out as I clenched around him, pulsing with release, feeling him spill inside me with a guttural groan, holding me through every tremor. We rode the high as one, breathless and connected, until we slumped against the glass, spent.
Cassian held me from behind, and I had no strength left, melting into his arms.
I didn't know how much time passed before my heartbeat slowed.
The rain still fell, but I couldn't stop thinking back to six years ago. After that dance, he'd pinned me against a window just like this.
My eyes welled up. Anger and hurt made me pull away from him.
I'd survived these six years alone, fought for this peaceful life, and he'd shattered it so easily.
"Baby..." Cassian saw me go and tried to follow.
"Don't call me that." I took a deep breath, grabbed a shirt, and slipped it on. "This doesn't change anything, Cassian. Let's call it... a proper goodbye."
I saw shock in his eyes, his face paling.
He clenched his fist, then released it. I expected anger, but it didn't come.
He just stood there a moment, then picked up his clothes from the floor and said softly, "I know this is all my fucked-up fault. I'm sorry. Luna, I got carried away."
"Sorry?" I looked at him. "Cassian, you know how many times you've said that to me? Before, earlier, in bed. But then what? You just do whatever the hell you want, whether I like it or not."
His face went paler.
"I really want to change—"
"Change what?" I cut him off. "Your temper? The way you jump to accusing me first? Or what you just—"
I stopped, didn't finish.
I was part of it too. My body betrayed me. It went soft when he touched me, responded to his kisses. That made me hate myself more, irritation surging.
He went quiet, then looked up. His eyes held regret, pain, and some vulnerability I couldn't read.
"My fault. I wanted you too much," he said, "Wanted you like crazy."
"It's pointless now." My voice was ice. "If you're really sorry, sign the divorce papers. I'll send you another copy."
"I won't sign." He said it quickly. "I swear, I'll change. I'll learn to love you right... and Laila. Give me a chance, okay?"
That lit the fire in me, and the hidden fear. How dare he bring up Laila?
I'd never let Laila have a father like him—unstable, arrogant, cold!
My voice rose, final. "Cassian, I don't want to see you again. Laila's not your kid. Leave us alone!"
He froze. "Luna..."
"Get out!"
His face turned ashen. He stood there forever.
Finally, he looked down, voice wrecked. "Okay. I'll go. But Luna, I'm not giving up."
