Freaking typical— they are not together and she is still getting in the way.

“It is fine, Crash. I think it is time I get Glory home. It was nice seeing you again.”

I see him flinch at me using his road name, but it seems fitting, to make sure that we keep that distance between us. I am a freaking fool for falling for it. This is the story of my life: always wanting things that I cannot have.

Oh well, lesson learned, again.

“Glory, come.” I stand and step past the table but he grips my hand.

“Wait. Fuck, I hate this.”

My chest cracks, my nose burns.

“Hate what? Kissing me?” My voice cracks from hurt and disappointment.

I thought there was a spark between us, after the way things were left the last time we saw each other. I clearly misread things.

Just great.

To think that a man can reduce me to this makes me angry; he is messing with my vibe and emotions.

His gaze shoots to mine, determination in his gaze.

“No. Fuck. I loved kissing you, fuck. I have been wanting to do it since the first time I saw you again,” he admits.

“I am confused, Logan. What do you hate?” I ask and he stands up, stepping into my space and I want to step back but my body wants him close.

He looks into my eyes and I see regret, his brow dipped, and his lips pressed tightly together.

“Have you seen or spoken to Valarie, since the fight? Maybe you two sorted your shit out.”

My eyes bounce between his. After a minute, it dawns on me— he didn’t just run into me. He sought me out to see if I have seen or heard from Valarie, to see if he could get information from me for his club.

Wow.

“You were not in the area, were you? You saw me and took the opportunity to come and question me, using my feelings for you, didn’t you,Crash?”

He says nothing.

“After everything that went down between Val and me, you had to know that I would not reach out to her, or her me. Yet, you thought to use me to get information for your club. I thought better of you,” I scoff. “Then again, we have not seen each other in years, so I have no idea who you are anymore.”

“It wasn’t like that. I was in the area and I saw you here...” I cut him off.

“But an order came through from your leader, right? Told you to seek me out and dig for information. Was it by any means? The kiss to sweeten the pot, right?” Shaking my head, tears fall, and I sniff. “Stay away from me, Crash.”

I walk away, and this time he lets me, but I stop a few tables away.

“For you information, I have not seen or heard from your girlfriend. So tell that to your boss and leave me the fuck alone.” My voice takes a hard tone and he winces at how angry I am.

I walk briskly back home to my new condo. Glory whines and huffs the whole way back, showing her displeasure for what Crash has just done to me.

Why can’t I have a simple happy life, filled with a sweet man with a dirty mouth and dirty sex, mixed with plenty of orgasms?

Reaching home, I lock away for the rest of the day, and we binge on the new hot hockey TV show that has everyone heated. Maybe I need to stop reading biker books and try out some hot ice hockey romance.

“Men freaking suck,” I tell Glory. “Be lucky that all you have to put up with is a male sniffing your butt.”

She yaps in agreement and we snuggle down to get lost in some hot romance… something I will not be having for a while.
