Kaelith tilted his head, the amused grin still lingering on his lips, admiring for a long second. And then he walked to her, taking the flowing strand of her hair and lifted it to his lips. Amar was stunned, her wide eyes like saucers. He gently kissed her hair, and ruffled them and turned around walkingaway leaving her all flustered and confused. What did…just happened?
CHAPTER 14
Amara spends two days in her room, completing the painting. On the morning of the second day, she found herself wide awake staring the ceiling lost in her thoughts. Last night, she once again had the same nightmare but this time, it was not just a nightmare, she saw Kaelith in her dream, as her knight in shining armor. Her feelings for him were confusing and yet she couldn’t understand them wholly.
The next day was warm and sunny unlike the last few gloomy days and she was more than ecstatic to roam in the gardens.
"This is so much fun!" Amara giggled.
"Is it now?" Martha said looking over at Amara. The young girl looked so carefree and happy. Once again today, Martha had tied Amara’s hair in a braid bun, but today there were no flowers. She still managed to look ethereal and angelic.
"I wonder when they’llgrow,"Amara poutedlookingdownatthefreshly plantedplants. Martha rolled her eyes.
"They’re still babies. Just like people they also need care and nurturing to grow." Sweat beaded at the back of her neck at the hot rays of the sun.
Amara knelt beside a row of flowers, her fingers brushing against the petals.
Amara bunched up her dress once more as the beige dress now looked brown and dirty. "Just like you." Martha tossed the stem aside.
"I am not a baby,” Amara emphasized still entrapped by the beauty of the flowers. There was something about them that drew her to them. She liked spending time outside rather than sitting in. Also, it was a kind of exercise for her legs to get better soon.
Both of them spend another hour planting the flowers. Tiredness and exhaustion wrapped around them both when she heard light footsteps coming their way. Before she could raise her head, she sensed his presence.
Amara was stopped by his deep voice.
"What's going on?" Kaelith stepped forward, his dark eyes immediately finding hers. The bright sunny aura suddenly turned chilled cold. Martha pretended not to see Kaelith and quickly bowed her head.
Amara didn’t even realize when he got here. He walked like a panther, so stealthily and without any sound.
"Umm...we were just...planting some flowers." Amara motioned to the newly sowed seeds and stems. Kaelith tilted his head as his eyes looked at her from top to bottom before extending his hand to her.
"Come out." With a confused expression, Amara blinked at his extended hand. Kaelith looked over at her, the dirty dress and dirt on her face.
Adorable.
"My hands are dirty." Not knowing what to do, she looked down at her dirty hands. Kaelith ignored her words and instead stepped forward.
It didn't seem like it bothered him. Amara gulped unsurely before placing her dirty hand on his. Kaelith gently pulled her out of the soil. Martha looked confused and startled. Kaelith was someone who hated skinship, he was quite reserved when it came to his personal space, Martha had never seen Kaelith with even a single speck of dust or crease on his clothes butnow he was letting Amara place her dirty hands on his not being bothered how the soil was also ruining his clothes.
The big bad mafia leader looked swooned by the little Angel.
Martha was surprised yet decided to remain quiet. Kaelith was one of the clean freaks. The man made a fuss finding a single strand of hair on his expensive Armani suit, but here he was holding hands, not to forget the soil.
"Let's get you cleaned, I have something to tell you," Kaelith mumbled getting her attention. His voice was overly soft and gentle; unlike the time he talked with his employees. There was an underlying tension in his words. What did he want to talk about?
She peeked over her shoulder at Martha and shared a look with her. Reading her stance, she waved her hand.
"Okay." She let him lead the way. Her hand intertwined with his, and she wondered if Kaelith was always this kind.
Of course, he was. Not even kind, but he was also considerate when it came to her. Sometimes it confused her why he was taking care of her when it should be Rafael’s responsibility.
Despite losing her memories, she knew Kaelith was someone she could rely on emotionally. But why did it feel like something was missing? Like a big part of her past life? Something beyond the memories and those horrific nightmares.
She frowned.
Instead of leading her to her room, Kaelith led her to his. Her hand tensed in his. Kaelith sensed her discomfort and gave her an assured smile. He opened the door with his free hand before locking it from the inside. He let go of her soiled hand and motioned to the bathroom.
Not having any choice, she slowly moved to the white doors. Opening it, she found a large spacious bathroom witha jacuzzi in the corner and a large mirror wall. A sink cabinet and a mirror.
