“Yes, you did,” Alex stated matter-of-factly.

Michael frowned. “Let’s not argue.”

Alex rose.

“Where are you going?”

“To bed. It’s been a long day.”

“Your things are in my bedroom,” Michael called outbehind him.

“No thanks,” Alex said. He headed to Micha’s room.

The next morning Alex woke up alone, and Micha was gone. His heart skipped a beat. All sorts of things went through his head. He got out of the king-sized bed they shared. Alex hurried out of the room. He found Micha in the kitchen eating pancakes with his father.

“Maya fixed us pancakes,” Micha said.

“Who is Maya?” Alex asked.

“My cook,” Michael answered.

Micha was still in his pajamas, but Michael was fully dressed in a black dressed shirt, tie, and slacks. His suitcoat hung on a hook near the back door.

“There’s sausage and juice, too,” Michael said.

“I need to shower first,” Alex said.

“I put your suitcase in Micha’s room,” Michael said. “There’s another bedroom next to his.”

“No need to mess up another room. There’s plenty of room in Micha’s bed.”

“There’s plenty of room in my bed as well,” Michael said.

“Dream on,” Alex said. He left the father and son team and headed for Micha’s room. It had its own en suite. After showering and shaving, Alex dressed. Then he went to get his five-year-old alpha to bathe and clothe him for the day. He brushed Micha’s hair, trying to beat the erratic curls into submission.

They found Michael in the living room. He had he his suitcoat on.

“I need the landlord’s address so we can settle your debt,” Michael told him. “Then we’re are off to the hospital for apaternity test.”

“A what?” Alex sputtered. “Why?”

“You know how this works. In order to name Micha as heir, I have to have more proof than just your word for it,” Michael said.

“He looks exactly like you,” Alex argued.

“You could have slept with someone who looked just like me,” Michael said.

“I’ve never slept with anyone but you,” Alex said.

Michael looked at him like he didn’t believe him. “You have been gone for six years. You see where I’m going with this? I need proof from a doctor for the board of directors and my family.”

“Your family? You mean, you father.” Michael’s mother liked him.

“Don’t be difficult, Alex.” Michael said.

“Don’t be difficult? Your father always saw me as a gold-digger, who just wanted you for your money. You think a paternity test is going to change that.”
