“This is not about you, Alex. It’s about Micha and what’s good for him.”

Alex frowned at him and mumbled a curse under his breath. He hated when Michael was right. “I know, but my character is on display. Okay, let’s go. The sooner we have this test, the sooner I can go on with my life.”

They left the penthouse, then traveled to the hospital. It wasn’t a public hospital, but a private one the Winthrop family used. “How can I be sure your family won’t try to claim him and take him away from me?” Alex asked.

“You have my word,” Michael said.

“Like your promise to love me forever?” Alex asked sarcastically.

Michael stopped speaking for a moment. “I’ve neverstopped loving you, Alex.”

“Excuse me if I don’t believe you,” Alex said. Even now Alex still loved Michael, but he did not trust him. When it came to family, alphas were more prone to side with their biological families than their omega lovers.

The swab test was administered quickly and professionally.

“How long before we get results?” Michael asked the technician who performed the test.

“Twenty-four to forty-eight hours,” the beta answered.

Two days. Alex already knew that answer.

“What do you mean you have a son?” Frank Winthrop asked his son.

“I have a son. I just found out. He’s five years old.”

“And his mother is?” Frank asked.

“Alexander Reynolds,” Michael answered.

“That omega who disappeared?” his father asked.

Michael nodded. “But he didn’t disappear. He left when he found out I was getting engaged. And without telling me that he was pregnant.”

“And what? He just mysteriously appears after six years with a son, and claiming he’s yours.”

“I had a paternity test done,” Michael said, expecting his father to react like this.

“Where did you have it done?”

“At our hospital, with our technician. It came back positive for paternity. A 99.99% match.”

“And Alexander kept his identity a secret all this time? Why now? Why did he contact you?”

“He didn’t. The child, Micha did. He texted me using hisfather’s phone.” He wasn’t going to mention that Alex was in danger.

“His name is Micha?” Frank asked.

“That’s his nickname. His name is Michael Allen Winthrop Jr.”

“The omega named him after you?”

Michael nodded. “I can’t wait for you to meet him. The kid’s gorgeous, smart and an alpha.”

“A what?” Frank asked.

He knew that would get his father’s attention. “An alpha. I had him tested for that, too.”
