His dark eyes sweep across my face before his lips lift into a faint sneer.

“And that's the only reason you're here, is it?”

In defiance, I elevate my chin.

“Yes.”

He gives me a nod, clearly not convinced, and backs away before turning and striding toward a small table, picking up a bottle of water.

“I've been thinking about what you said to me the other night.”

I take a long breath before responding.

“Oh, yeah, and what was that?”

“Your comfort zone.”

My brows furrow, and when his eyes meet mine, he twists off the lid.

“What about it?”

He takes a long swig of the water before returning it to the small table beside him.

“I wanted to push you out of it, and I just did, considering you're here when you clearly don't fucking want to be.”

Before responding coldly, I roll my eyes and turn away.

“My feelings and who I am are not a game, Chaos.”

I can sense him evaluating me from afar as he considers my words.

“I didn't say they were Charley, but there's nothing wrong with a little chaos in your life. You need to have that innocence ripped right fucking out of you.”

My eyes dart to him, and I narrow them before leaping off the table and closing the short space between us. As soon as I halt directly in front of him, I speak sternly, attempting to show authority.

“Maybe I just want you to leave me the hell alone. Maybe that's why I came here.”

He gives a sinister smirk before drawing his face close to mine and responding with gritted teeth.

“And maybe I don't fucking want to.”

He takes another step closer, so I back up, unable to take my gaze away from his gloomy eyes as he continues.

“Maybe I want to continue pushing you out of that little bubble you hate to fucking love. Maybe I want to know exactly whoyou are beneath that scary world you engulf yourself in. Maybe I want to show you exactly what you're missing the fuck out on.”

My courage to tell him to fuck off fades into nothingness with every step he takes, and when my ass meets the table behind me, I am squeezed between him, and it while staring up at him, his strong body pressed firmly against mine. He leans down, bringing his face close to mine, and lays his palms on the table, trapping me in. After a brief pause, I elevate my chin, attempting to remain confident.

“Maybe I don't want you to. Maybe I enjoy being alone.”

Before responding, his eyes sweep across my face, carefully taking in my features as he contemplates.

“Maybe we can be lonely together. What the fuck are you so afraid of?”

I become irritated and glare at him.

“Do you have a fucking virginity fetish or something, Chaos? Is that it?”

He raises an eyebrow at my audacity, then chuckles while standing tall.
