Forty minutes later, I was already unlocking the side door of a warehouse, this one filled with older cars and mostly motorcycles. I grabbed the Kawasaki Ninja that was slated totravel to Russia and altered its fate. At neck-breaking speed, I headed toward Sebastian Moretti's house.

I waited on my bike down the block, delivering Jade that orgasm I promised her, but almost as soon aswewere done, I heard her faint voice. I stepped closer just in time to see dumb fuck Knox touchingmy girl.

Something insane and sinister screamed inside me.

I should have killed him so fucking long ago.

The motel room was straight out of a horror movie. The carpet was burgundy at some point, and the bed stood against the wall, painted grayish-blue. The front door was only a few feet away from the mattress and there was a small dining table in front of the window, surprisingly, with only one chair.

We were on the road for two hours when Jade spotted this place and asked to stop. Neither Jade nor I said anything when we stepped inside the room, but I looked her over, afraid that she was hurt.

“How…Why were you there? What happened?” Jade whispered, cupping my cheeks.

As succinctly as I could, I explained what I’d seen transpire in Julian’s office, and the longer I spoke, the more Jade wilted. She dropped her shoulders and slumped down on the bed, holding her head in her hands.

“I’m so fucking stupid,” she mumbled, “and too trusting. And you're no better." She looked resigned, like the last of her energy was drained from her. “This whole week…he lied and pretended. So well too; I really thought he had no idea.”

With my arms crossed, I leaned against the small dining table, trying to figure out the degree of shit that we were in, but Jadesuddenly jumped up from the bed, tossing her purse on the table.

“But I’m his daughter, and I can be awful too.” She paced the small room, visibly nervous. “This will be the nail in the coffin. Thiswilldestroy him, but…I don’t know if you’re up for it.”

She turned to me, such uncertainty in her eyes. Just as I opened my mouth to ask what she meant, my phone rang.

“Sasha!” Olga shouted once I placed it on speaker. “Thank fuck! They took Andrei! No explanation, nothing! It was our kids’ bedtime! Where are you? I swear—”

"I’m safe with Jade. Where is he?" I interrupted her stream of consciousness, but instead of continuing her rambling, she fell silent.

And then she spoke Russian, her voice calm and deadly.“Ty ei tochno doveryaesh? Vse ochen ploho viglyadit, Sasha. Ona ego doch.”

I looked at Jade, thinking over Olga’s words. Are you sure you trust her? It all looks very bad. She’s his daughter.

Yes. She was the one person I trusted with my life.

“Da. I trust her fully.”

Jade blinked up at me, her eyes wide and her hair still disheveled from the helmet.

“This was a full-on ambush!” Olga continued while Jade and I stood in front of each other in a filthy motel room, on the run. “They knocked, and as soon as he opened the door—boom! They wrestled him to the ground and handcuffed him! I mean, his hands were wet! He was giving Masha a bath!”

“Who’s Masha?” Jade interjected, but then it hit her. “Wait! Did you have the baby?!”

"Yes!" Olga suddenly turned cheery, as if we weren't discussing her husband's arrest. "A week ago! She came early!"

"Oh my God! Congratulations, girl! How are you feeling?"

"Thank you, thank you. Third one’s a piece of cake, hah! I'm feeling all right, just a bit tired." Olga laughed, and Jade took the phone out of my hands while I watched in disbelief how they so easily switched to light chitchat.

"How is sleeping and stuff? Are you breastfee—"

"Ladies!" I interrupted loudly, in complete shock at how they usurped this conversation. "Focus! Please!"

"It's just boobs, Sasha, they're not only made for your enjoyment." Olga's eye roll could practically be heard through the phone.

"Wha—? I'm not—" I tried to justify myself for some reason.

"They're meant to feed babies,Sasha, first and foremost." Jade rolled her eyes too, looking at me with the widest grin, uncontrollable delight bursting from her.

I loved this side of her. I loved all her sides.
