“I’d rather not,” was all I said before I walked off.

“Damn, Mr. Franchise,” Trey laughed.

I could hear them laughing at him as I walked off. I had too much shit going on to be caught in Titan Samuels’ web.

The rest of the night went by fast, and I wasn’t mad. Titan and his crew ordered one more bottle and had a few girls join them, but that didn’t stop Titan from flirting with me. I ignored his advances, but I wasn’t dumb enough to mess up a good tip.

I made my last round up to VIP to see if they were ready to close out their tab. Titan paid, and when he handed me his card, he held my hand tighter.

“Hold up,” he insisted. “Y’all keep all your own tips, right?” he asked.

I nodded.

“Aight. Charge my bill and get an extra five thousand for your tip.” When he said that, I almost passed the fuck out.

“I-I can’t do that,” I stammered.

He frowned. “Why not? Didn’t you earn it?”

“Not that damn much and you know it,” I shot back.

“Look at it as a peace offering.” He flashed a smile.

Hesitating, I squinted at him before I turned on my heels and headed to close out his tab. I had to go find Stacks or Geno, the club’s manager, because I couldn’t get that much money without clearance. When I made it to the bottom, I found both of them standing at the end of the bar.

“Hey, I was looking for y’all,” I stated.

“Wassup, Cady?” Stacks asked.

I told him what my dilemma was, and he smirked before telling me to follow him. We made it to his office, where he went into his safe, pulling out a stack of cash.

“Here.” He handed me the cash.

“What is this for?” I asked.

“That nigga knows we can’t cash out that kind of cash here. Take this and I’ll go holla at him.” I looked at Stacks, then at the cash.

“I can’t take this.” I shook my head.

“Yeah, you can. I’m gone get my money back from that nigga, but that’s yours. He clearly wanted you to have it.”

I looked at the money again and thought about the debt that I was in. It wouldn’t solve all of my problems, but it would help start a dent in it.

I thanked Stacks and headed out of his office so I could cash out the rest of my tips and go home. On the way out, I felt eyes on me, and when I turned around, and saw Titan staring at me, but had a girl swooning over him. I shook my head and made it to my car with the help of Spike. Once I was secured in my vehicle, I headed straight home. I made fifty-five hundred dollars tonight, thanks to Titan. First thing in the morning I was going straight to the bank and deposit this money.

“Only twenty-one thousand nine hundred thirty-six dollars and eighteen cents to go,” I said to myself as I headed home.

Chapter Three

Titan

“It’s eight seconds left in the last quarter, and the Cannons need a touchdown. Tatum drops back and goes deep, looking for Titan! Titan gets behind the Rebel defense—lunch money! TOUCHDOWN CANNON HILLS! And that ladies and gentlemen is why Titan Samuels is one of the best wide receivers in the league.”

I had just caught the winning touchdown, but I couldn’t focus on that shit because CP’s bitch ass intentionally missed the fucking block. Had it been any other muthafucka, they’d be ontheir fucking back right now. I couldn’t even get to his ass like I wanted to because reporters were already in my face.

“Titan, how does it feel to bring your team back and win at the wire?” one reporter asked.

“It feels amazing doing what I love to do,” I answered modestly.
