Kong glanced at the deceased doctor over his shoulder, then turned back to Anitra.

“Homie’s instincts seemed to be right. Where can I find him?”

“I don’t know.” Her voice quaked, and she diverted her eyes away from him.

Kong brought the gun to the top of her dome and let it rest there.

“One more try,” he encouraged.

“Over in Kayhill. Those apartments on Adams Street. He lives in apartment 2D.”

“Now, what do you think I should do with you? Hmm? Let you live so you can run around telling everybody what you saw here and what you know?” he suggested, a wicked smile curving his lips.

“I won’t say anything. I pro?—”

Pow!Kong couldn’t take any further risks. Anitra’s brain matter splattered against the wall behind her. Leaving her with her mouth and eyes left wide open, Kong turned to go.

“Moose, what are you doing here?” Inari wrapped her robe up and tied it.

It stopped right above her thick ass thighs. Moose licked his lips after stealing a peek before his dark eyes drifted to her face. When she peered past him, she saw that he wasn’t alone. Mozzi was on the phone, pacing in her driveway, and Kong leaned against his truck, blowing a fat blunt into the wind.

“What’s going on?” she asked, pulse suddenly racing.

“She’s alive, Nari.”

Time froze. She barely blinked. Part of her wondered if she’d even heard him right when she suddenly grew dizzy. Her hand slipped against the door frame, and Inari felt herself drift toward the ground. Luckily, Moose was there to catch her before she hit the porch. He carried her over to the chairs and small table she had set up for when she wanted her porch time and lowered himself into one with her on his lap. Inari didn’t fight him or budge as she caught her breath.

“Hey, you good?” he asked, reaching up to touch her cheek.

“You said…” Inari rested her hands against his chest. “She’s alive?” she whispered, voice shaky.

A small smile claimed Moose’s lips, and he nodded. Disbelief filled her misty eyes, and she brought one of her hands against her mouth.

“How? How do you know?”

“Some information came together. We got confirmation. Now, we’re tracking Mira. Mozzi put Clue on it. We’re waiting for her location now.”

“Oh, my God!” She threw her arms around him and held him tight.

Part of her prayed and hoped but never wanted to believe it. There were too many things pointing to the opposite. Her sister was dead and gone, and she would never see her again. Now, she had reassurance that what her heart had been telling her all along was the truth. Inari grabbed Moose’s face and kissed him. Long, slow, and very deliberate. His arms rested around her back, holding her close as their tongues danced. Inari finally pushed herself off him and searched his warm orbs. Her hand now rested over his heart, which was running a marathon in his chest from her touch. Holding her lips together, she moved off his lap and stood.

“I shouldn’t have done that.”

“You did it because it felt right,” Moose told her, slowly bringing himself to his feet.

Kong and Mozzi started up the steps, meeting them on the porch where Inari rested a hand against the banister and caught her breath.

“I got the drop on a building about an hour outside of here. Used to be an old plant for Ford. Bought and renovated about two years ago through Donahue Real Estate,” Mozzi revealed.

“I’m going to get dressed.” Inari pushed past them to the door.

Moose extended his arm and grabbed her wrist before she could get far.

“No.”

“What do you mean no?” Inari yanked away from him. “This is my sister?—”

“And this is dangerous. We don’t know what we walking into,” Moose adamantly voiced. “I’m not letting you walk in there and have something happen to you. Dane already lost one parent. He can’t lose you. I can’t either.”
