“Go ’head. Let that shit off. Might be the last time,” he warned, malice drenching his words.
The good doctor’s dick went limp almost immediately. Beneath him, Anitra gasped and popped up on both elbows. Eyes wide as two saucers, she trembled.
“The fuck!” Dr. Vines pulled at his pants, and his receptionist, Anitra, slipped off the desk.
She hit the floor and immediately scrambled to a corner away from Kong waving his gun.
“You got four minutes to tell me everything you know about Mira Jones and Justin Stokes. No stuttering, no lies, all facts. Now!” Kong never moved the gun from his temple.
“Alright!” Dr. Vines side eyed him.
From across the room, Anitra rocked with her hands against her mouth. Her life flashed before her eyes in a matter of seconds.
“I’ve known Mira since I was a kid. My mama used to be one of her girls. She was a friend. Somebody Mira took under her wing. When she died, Mira pretty much took care of me. She paid for school, gave me an apartment to live in. Anything I ever needed, she handled. She’s kind of like family,” Dr. Vines admitted.
“You ain’t telling me shit! Play dumb if you want to. I’ll start shooting you from the bottom up. Starting with your big fucking toe!”
“What else you want to know?” Dr. Vines queried.
Kong tittered, eyes bouncing around crazily before taking his gun and swinging it across the good doctor’s face. Blood spewed from his nose, and he doubled over, hands against his now throbbing face. Anitra released a muffled scream from the corner, and Kong aimed the gun in her direction.
“Make another sound, and I leave your brains on the fucking wall right now!” he barked at her.
Dr. Vines grilled him over his hands, steepled against his nose and mouth.
“I want to know what happened with Ayla Jacobs. Run that shit!”
Lowering himself into a chair, he grabbed a Kleenex from his desk and brought it against his nose to apply pressure.
“All I know is Mira needed it to look like she was dead. I didn’t ask any questions. She needed a body and a report, so I made it happen.”
“Where is she now?”
“I don’t know.” Dr. Vines shook his head.
Kong aimed his gun at his leg and fired a shot.
“Agh! Fuck!”
“Wrong fucking answer.”
“I don’t know. She hasn’t been in touch since she left the city. The last number she called me from is in my phone.”
Searching his desk, Kong located the iPhone and brought it to the doctor’s mangled face so he could unlock it. Once he was inside, he scrolled until he came across a number that wasn’t saved.
“This one?” he asked, holding the phone up to him.
Squinting through his blurred vision, Dr. Vines bobbed his head. Memorizing the number, Kong tossed the phone back onto the desk. He didn’t bother looking at him before squeezing the trigger and sending a bullet through his head.
“Who is Justin to you?” Kong stepped toward Anitra.
Still in shock, Anitra’s entire body shook like she was bathing in ice. Eyes glistening with tears, lip quivering, she peered up at Kong with regretful eyes.
“He’s my ex. I swear. I don’t fuck with him no more.”
“Why was he here to see you when I came that day?”
“Because he knew Mira had a connection to my boss, and he doesn’t like Paul—” She whimpered. “He thought I was fucking him.”
