2 weeks have gone by since I left and came back home. Dad stayed for a few more days, but now he’s home as well.
“Come on, El.” Sadie exclaims as she is laying on my bed. “You’ve been gone for weeks. Come out with me and let’s have some fun. Jenifer is having a party again. You know, the other side of town. A lot of the rich kids will be over there.”
“Great, just what I need, more people to look down upon me.”
“Shut up,” she laughs out. “No one looks down upon you.” She gets up and walks into my closet.
“Fine, you just want me to go because I’ll be your DD.”
“And that’s a problem. Why?” It makes me laugh as she emerges from my closet. “Now, get up.” She walks back out with a small dress and hands it to me. “Change.”
“Fine.” I roll my eyes as I groan, and she laughs.
“Ella, you’re back.” I hear the group of girls screech over to me as I nod my head and Sadie continues to push me through the crowd.
“See, no one looks down.” She laughs, pushing me outside.
Jen’s backyard is large. She lives on the opposite side of town. The side where there’s a lot of old money. The side of town that runs the city.
I hate it, but every city has this side of town.
“Get you a drink?” I hear someone say at my side as I turn and look at the man standing next to me. He smiles at me when I look over and I shake my head.
“No, thank you.” I glance down at the ground. “I have to babysit tonight.” I point over to Sadie, who is dancing up on a table. I mean, granted, it took her hours this time before she ended up on the table.
“Oh, looks like you may have your hands full with that one.”
“You have no idea.” I tell him as I laugh out. I look up at him as he continues to smile. He’s taller than I am, but not by much, and not as much as Axe is. I can’t help but roll my eyes at myself.
“If you want to have a couple of drinks. I can give you guys a ride home.” I just shake my head. “Or I can give you something to balance it out.” He holds up the small baggie with the white powder inside of it. I eye the bag for a second and he smirks, as if he knows what I’m thinking.
“No, thanks…” I pause as he smiles.
“Jake.”
“Ella.” He nods at me.
“Ella, beautiful name for a beautiful woman.” I roll my eyes as I turn around and move over to where Sadie is still dancing.
“Sadie, get off the table.” I reach up, grasping her hand as I try to tug her down from the table.
“Let me take you out, sometime.” Jake says into my ear, and I just shake my head.
“Sadie, off the fucking table.” I shout up at her as she laughs and the surrounding men cheer her on.
“Come on, Ella. It’s just dinner.” Groaning before I spin around and stare up at him.
“For fuck’s sake. If I say yes, will you leave me alone so I can get my friend off of this table?” A small smirk spread on his lips.
Nodding his head, he starts. “You say yes, and I’ll get your friend off the table myself.”
“Yeah, good luck with that one.” I roll my eyes as he laughs.
“Is that a yes?”
“Sure.”
“Sadie.” He shouts up to her, and she looks down, stopping as he reaches up to her. Shockingly, she grabs his hand, and he gently pulls her down off of the table.
