“I would come out here at night. A lot. And just watch them.”
“When?”
“I dunno, since as long as I can remember.” She shrugs. “Especially when dad was in jail.”
“How?” I can’t help but laugh out as she just smirks.
“Please,” she glances over, “most of the time no one remembered I was even there.”
“I beg to differ.” She laughs again. “There was always someone with you.”
“No, there was always someone around. Rarely was anyone actually with me. If something happened, I would have to go find someone.” I frown, looking over at her. “I understood. I mean, dad had his whole life going on and just kind of pawned me off on Ash a lot. Ash had his own life. He already did more for me than my family.” She looks over at me again. “At night, I would sneak out and come out here.” She nods.
“But there are cameras around that entire compound.”
“Please, I can probably still show you multiple places where those cameras don’t see.”
“Really?”
“Yeah, not only that, but they typically only check them if they are already looking for something.”
“You really are something else.” She smiles up at me, satisfied with herself, as I lean over and kiss her gently. “Come on.” I nod to her as we slip out of the seats, and I move around to the back. Opening the trunk, I crawl into it and lay the backseats down, before I turn around and motion for her to climb up inside with me.
“What is this?” She smirks.
“It’s a little better than laying on the ground,” leaning over once more and kissing her gently.
And here I thought I didn’t know how to be gentle.
Grabbing the blanket that is at my side, I drape it over us as she leans into me. Her body instantly relaxes, as it always does, when she rests in my arms. “Why do you have a blanket in your Jeep?” She laughs as she looks up at me.
“I make pretty frequent trips out to the desert.” I honestly tell her. “If I was to break down at night. It gets fucking cold.” She just nods her head. “You should really have some stuff in your car as well.”
“Okay, Daddy.” She rolls her eyes.
“Ella,” I growl down to her as she just smirks.
“What?” She looks up at me innocently.
“You better watch yourself.”
“What did I do?” She asks, completely innocent again before she nods her head and a sly smirk peek out. “Okay, I’ll make sure to never jokingly call you daddy again.”
“Woman.” I glare at her as I roll over onto my side, onto my arm as I lean over top of her.
“Ohhh,” she bites the inside of her lip. “So, you like it when I call you daddy.” I can’t help but growl as I continue to look down at her.
“I’m very conflicted about it.” She laughs.
“Would it make you feel a little better if you knew I didn’t call my dad, daddy?”
“Yes.”
“I have no memory of it.” She whispers as I growl to her again, closing my eyes, leaning into her and consuming her mouth once again.
Hearing tires and engines coming to a stop behind my Jeep, I’m even a little more confused when I open my eyes as I pull away from Ella to see the red and blue light flashing on her face. I can’t help but laugh out as I look down at her, looking back at me with a grimace.
“We’re not supposed to be back here, are we?” She slowly shakes her head, causing me to laugh again. “Shit, okay.” Sitting up, I slide down to the edge of the trunk.
