“Please remain in your vehicle.” comes over the PA speaker and I nod for her to come and join me.
“The last time I had to deal with cops didn’t go so well.” She tells me, causing me to laugh as I just shake my head. “Come on, let me jump over the seats, I can get us out of here.”
“You are out of your fucking mind.” The guys are already going to freak the hell out when they find out about us. If this is how it comes out, Oz will kill me. No, scratch that. He will bring me to the brink of death, so that way, Khan and Ash can also kill me.
“Come on, you don’t think I can.”
“Oh, I know you can, Babydoll, but I also bet that they have already run my plates and will find us.” She pouts as the officers get out of the car and walk up to where we sit.
“Evening.” The heavier officer says as he approaches. “What are you two doing back here?”
“Just came out to get some fresh air, relax, and watch the planes.” I nod over in the airport's direction.
“You know that this is private property?”
“No, I wasn’t aware.” I don’t mention that Ella knew it was.
“Okay, do you two have identification?” Nodding, I reach into my pocket and pull out my wallet, glancing over to Ella.
“Mine’s in the front seat.”
“Okay, come on.” He nods to Ella. She slides out of the back of the Jeep and walks with the officer as I slide out as well to follow them.
“You can stay right here.”
“It’s just—”
“She’s fine.” He nods at me, but I know how the fucking world works. Glancing back in her direction, I hand him my ID. “You know trespassing in the state of California and come with a 6 months’ sentence.”
“I did, actually.”
“And yet you still…”
“I didn’t know.” Shrugging my shoulders. “I missed the signs.”
“I’m getting it.” I hear Ella shout as I glance up towards her through the Jeep. Turning until I hear the officer talking again.
“Okay, I’m going to need you to turn around and put your hands behind your back.”
“What?” I look at him, shocked.
“Turn around and put your hands behind your back, unless you’re looking to add resisting arrest.” Groaning, I turn around as he cuffs me and Ella shouts again.
“El,” I call out to her before she locks eyes with me, and I shake my head. “Not worth it.” Instantly the fight that she’s putting up against the officer dies and she sighs.
I’m sorry. She mouths back to me, and I laugh, shaking my head.
No, you’re not. She laughs again before we’re being pushed back to the cruiser.
“This is ridiculous.” I mumble to the cop before he shoves me into the backseat and slams the door.
I watch Ella being escorted over by the cop as she calmly talks to him. He doesn’t look too entertained with her, though “I mean, what else am I supposed to do.” She shrugs again. “It’s the best place to view the planes. I came across it a long time ago, probably before it was private.”
“I don’t care.” He finally mumbles as I just look at her.
As he shuts the door, she looks back up. “Hey,” he pauses. “Can I see your gun?” I can’t help but suppress a laugh as I watch his eyes glare back at her.
“No, you can’t touch it.”
