“What now?” Ash asks, causing me to laugh as I shake my head.
“Put him to bed.” I look over and Ash laughs again.
“That’s fucked up.”
“I know.”
It’s quiet in the car and I know what they are all thinking.
“Axe,” Khan calls to me.
Sighing, I know what he’s going to ask. Maybe not the exact words, but enough. “I was hesitant about sleeping with her after she told me.”
“She’s always been persistent.” Oz laughs, “This is really fucking weird for me.” Which makes me laugh, “But I have a question. What did he mean…?”
“You know, when she first tried to, she told me I would regret it…”
“Regret what?” Ash asks.
“Turning her down.” I laugh. “And I never have, but a part of me kind of regrets waiting so long.”
“Huh?”
“It’s just.” I say as I veer the car onto the freeway. “She didn’t deserve for it to be that fucked up. She didn’t deserve that to be the fir…” I drop the sentence mid word and trail off, again.
“Fuck,” is scoffed through the jeep and I look at them. Knowing that they know.
Pulling up to the clubhouse, it’s really late. I think that Ash and Khan are going to walk back towards the houses. Nodding a goodbye, completely unaffected by what just happened. We all should be, but we know that he fucking deserved it. But what actually happens is Khan nods inside and we walk into the lounge. It’s so late that even the lounge is quiet.
My phone rings and looking down, I see the unknown number again. Stepping to the side, hoping that it is her and not to freak her out with hearing the guys talking in the background.
“Hello.” I hear a gasp come through the earpiece, almost as if she didn’t expect me to answer this late. “Ella.” I say, causing all three men to stop and look back at me. “Babydoll, you keep calling, please just talk to me.” They are still staring at me as I hear the click and I just slowly hang my head and hang up the phone. Looking back at them and shaking my head.
“Was it her?” Oz asks.
“I don’t know for sure, but I think so.”
“So, call it back.” Ash exclaims.
“It’s an unknown number.” Oz explains.
