Laughing, he leans into me more and snaps, “Maybe next time don’t fucking assault a federal officer.”

You do not know what the fuck I’m capable of.I can’t help but think to myself as I sit up in the rack and hand over the shit prosthetic. Before the officer walks out and I glare up.

“Holy shit, kid.” I watch as Gary’s head pops over the side. “You have a fake leg.”

“Huh, yeah.” I nod back up to him.

“How’d that happen?” He asks as he hangs his large torso over the side.

“Blown up.” I mumble before I roll over to my side.

“Blown up?” He asks again, but this time I don’t respond. He lets a few moments go by before he groans and starts talking again. “Look man, we’re going to be roommates, might as well talk.”

“Fine, I was in the Middle East, took an RPG to a Humvee.”

He just stares at me, still hanging off the side of the cot.

The week goes by the same. Every morning, once everyone has already gone to chow, the guard brings my leg back. I go to breakfast, walk around. Sit with Trip. One thing’s for certain.

Prison is fucking boring.

“So what did you do to get in here?” Trip asks me as I walk through the yard.

“Punched a fed.” He laughs as I look back over at him. “Was antagonizing Ash. I knew he was about to do it, so I did instead.”

“Oh yes, the kid can be quite a hothead.”

“You’re telling me.” I laugh as he shakes his head. “But he’s got twins on the way…”

“Shit, really?” he laughs out.

“How ‘bout you? How long have you been here?”

“A while.” He shrugs. “I think I lost track of time.”

“What’d you do?”

“I lit a man on fire.” I nod my head as I look at him.

“What’d he do?”

“Killed my family.”

“That seems justified.” I nod back at him, causing him to laugh.

“Yeah, Oz helped. I took the fall for it.”

“How did he owe you if you took the fall for it?” He laughs as he just shrugs again.

“That was my job. To take the fall. I couldn’t let the rest of the club go down for it. Especially when it wasn’t club related.”

“Yeah, I understand. Similar I guess.” He looks over at me. “I’m sure they caught wind of something, but can’t prove it. Probably because no one wants to press charges.”

“Why?”

“Cause then, what he did comes to light.” He continues to look at me before I sigh. “Kid from a high-profile family. Lots of money attacked my girl.”

“Oh shit, you killed him?”
