… heal and move on…
“Everyone is going to be fucking pissed.” I look at Caroline as she laughs and shakes her head.
“No, they won’t.” She turns. “You’re lucky.”
“What?”
“They all think you walk on water. You can do no wrong.”
“I don’t know. Ash definitely thought I did something wrong when he saw Jag.”
“I think surprise is more like it. Maybe even blaming himself.”
“Why?”
“Because he flipped out on him and yelled at you. He didn’t approve.” She rolls her eyes, looking at me and smirking.
“Would he approve now?” I don’t even realize that I’m asking it as it slips out, and she looks over at me.
“Why, Ella, are you hoping he does?” A smirk on her face.
“I don’t know what I’m hoping for.” I pause, “Right now, I’m just hoping that my son gets his dad in the picture.”
“I don’t think that’s going to be a problem.” She glances up outside her bedroom window and points to where Axe and Jag are playing in the backyard. “But I know you’re full of shit.” She looks at me laughing.
“What?”
“You’re full of shit. And you’re whole I just want him to be a part of his life is bullshit.”
“No,” I stand my ground and she laughs as she turns around and looks at me.
“Yes, and I can prove it.”
“How?” I look at her, crossing my arms over my body, daring her… there’s no way that she can prove it.
“Okay,” she sets downthe clothes that she has in her hands down and looks at me, as if she’s already won, but again. There’s no fucking way that she would be about to prove—“why’d you name him Jagger?”exceptfor that.A smirk pulled on her lips as she tilts her head.
“If you’re asking me then you already know.”
“I wanna hear you say it.” She laughs.
Groaning out, “Fine, because of the meaning.”
“And what’s the meaning, Ella?” Her smirk grows.
“You already know.” I laugh not wanting to admit out loud what the meaning is.
“Yes, I do, but I want to hear your little lying mouth admit it.”
“Fine.” I shout, dramatically tossing my hands out to the sides. “The meaning of the name Jagger is…” I groan not believing that I’m getting called out about this, but of course she would be the one who would catch it. “Carter… are you happy now?” I ask her as she smiles.
“Thrilled.”
“So, we’re having a cookout?” I ask her trying to change the subject,
“Yeah, we usually try to do it once a week.”
“What the fuck happened here?” Caroline laughs. “I should probably see Dax before everyone gets here.” She laughs again before nodding her head. Moving down the stairs and walking into the backyard before I stop looking at Axe and our son again and I smile.
