Moving out of the front door, I put her in the car as I walk around it, pulling out my phone, and typing out a quick text to Fury telling him I’m taking her over to my house.
It only takes me a couple of minutes until we’re pulling in the driveway and she looks at me, smiling. “Look at you, being a real member of society.”
She makes me laugh out as I push myself out of the car, walking around to the passenger side. She tries to push herself out of the car, but I reach over anyway, helping to stabilize her as she stands. She walks with me up to the front door as I open it I can see her looking around in the yard and then into the house.
“Wow.” She murmurs as she walks inside the house in front of me, taking it all in.
“What? Didn’t expect it to be nice?”
“I expected a bachelor pad.” She says, a hint of a smile lining her lips as she gives me shit. “I’m actually surprised that you have a place at all.” I just shrug back at her.
“I mean, when I got out. I decided that I needed a stable place. The clubhouse is fine, but I wanted a place that was my own…” I trail before I look back over at her, seeing her, even if her exhausted state, looking at me, listening intently. “I’ve never had that before.”
“That makes sense.” She tells me, before forcing a weak smile.
“It’s not much, but it’s mine.”
“It’s a lot.” She whispers again before she sits down on the couch, and I bring over something to drink. She sips the water before she falls over onto the couch, pulling her knees up to her chest rolling herself into a ball again.
“What do you want me to do?” She doesn’t have enough time to answer before the doorbell rings and I get up, walking over to it.
“Hey man.” I open it as Fury stands on the other side with Ella next to him. Ella pushes past me before she’s heading to the couch where Sadie lies, withering in agony… and now maybe a little anxious.
Fury looks over before he looks back at me and sighs. “I brought some extra IV bag. Show you how to do it if you want. That way you don’t have to wait for me to get here.”
“Yeah.” I mumble, not really excited about having to stick her with a needle. I walk over with him to the couch as Fury sits down on the table in front of it.
“Hey Sadie.” He whispers. Ella looks up at me as Fury starts to push the needle into her arm, apparently not able to watch him stick her with a needle either, then he attaches the tube to it and starts to let it drip.
Walking into the kitchen, I open the fridge door as look for something to feed her when I hear footsteps behind me.
“How did she get this bad?” Ella corners me in the kitchen, completely unfazed and unafraid to stand up to me.
It’s almost comical. Most people, not just women, would never confront me like this.
“You think this is fucking funny?” She snaps at me before I pull myself together.
“No,” I shake my head before I point out to the living room where she’s lying on the couch. “That is nowhere near fucking funny.” I right myself before I shut the door. “Your balls of steel is a little comical though.”
She smirks at me making me audibly laugh this time. “When you were raised like I was, not much fazes you.”
I can’t help but nod in agreement with her. Her dad was the president of the Midnight Syn until he was arrested awhile back. She grew up basically in the club. “Look, don’t come at me like that. We’re on the same page. I found her like that. Actually worse.” I tell her as she nods her head. “She’s fragmented.”
“Huh?”
“She was drugged. They got her addicted and kept her fucked up after that.”
“Who?”
“Does it matter?” I ask her. “Are you going to go kick their ass?” I’m trying not to laugh at her this time, but she just cuts her eyes at me. “Ella, I’ve got it. I have shit with them already. I’m already planning on putting an end to them.”
“Good.” She snaps before she looks back out to the living room. “I just don’t understand…”
“Death will do that.” I tell her before she nods her head.
“Shit.” She mumbles before she looks back at me. “Who’d she lose?” I start to panic trying to figure out how to backtrack.
“I’m not really sure. She hasn’t told me.” It’s not a lie. She’s never told me who, even though I know who… “Someone who she loved, he died, and it left her… grasping at life.”
