Ella sighs as she continues to look at the doorway into the living room. “What do you mean you found her like that?” She whispers looking back at me.

“I broke into my old clubhouse. To get my money that I stashed.” She smirks at me. “And she was in the president’s bed. She had no clue what was going on. J just left her there for who fucking knows how long because the fucking door was locked, from the outside, she couldn’t leave.”

Fury walks toward us as we stand in the kitchen, and he nods. “Give her a few minutes.” I nod my head. “Hopefully this will be the worse day.”

“Hopefully, thanks man.” He nods his head again.

“You feel better, Kid?” He asks Ella, who only cuts her eyes at him.

“No, my best friend is in there feeling like shit and all of this happened while I was gone, I ran away and cut everyone out of my life… if I would have been here, she wouldn’t have ended up there.”

I mean, she is probably right about that one. Because if Ella wouldn’t have left town, Sadie wouldn’t have ended up in a lot of places that she did. A lot of those places leading her to The Marauders’ clubhouse.

“But I guess if that was the case then she wouldn’t be here with you, either.” I just nod my head, noncommittally, before she shifts uncomfortable. “Sorry, I thought you two…” Ella trails, making me laugh.

“You’re not wrong,” I pause, “I’m just not sure what it is.” Then turning back, I look out of the kitchen towards were Sadie lies. “If I would have never mether,I wouldn’t know what I was missing, but even if I did, I would sacrifice whatever this is for her to be…”I trail off not being able to quite think of the right word for it. Ella tilts her head sending me a questioning look.

“But you just met her?”

I smirk back at Ella before I nod. “I did, but I’ve been alone for a long time. I would sacrifice that a million times over for her to be happy and stable.”

Ella laughs out as she nods her head. “The intentions are sweet, really they are, but she was unstable long before she found herself in that clubhouse.”

“What you mean?” I ask her as she starts to walk back out of the kitchen.

Stopping, she looks back at me, and sighs. “That’s not my story to tell. I’m not sure she’s ever told anyone else. You can ask her, but don’t be mad if she doesn’t want to.”

I understand, maybe more than most people, about the demons we keep below the surface. The ones that we keep everyone from seeing, because if they saw into our pits of hell… how much of the monster would they see?

Chapter Fifteen

SADIE

I can hear Ro and Ella talking in the kitchen. Fury walked in there a couple of minutes ago, although, he hasn’t said much to either of them.

“…But I guess if that was the case then she wouldn’t be here with you, either.” Ella tells Ro. “Sorry, I thought you two…” I’m not sure what his reaction was, but it causes a slight pain as I think about him not caring if I am here or not.

Closing my eyes, I start to let myself drift off to sleep, not wanting to be in this conversation. “You’re not wrong.” He tells her bringing me out of my sleep daze. “I’m just not sure what it is.” His answer makes me smile because I have no fucking clue what this is either. “If I would have never met her, I wouldn’t know what I was missing, but even if I did, I would sacrifice whatever this is for her to be…” How he stops his sentence makes me curious as what he’s thinking.

“But you just met her?” Ella asks him, shock lining her voice.

“I did, but I’ve been alone for a long time. I would sacrifice that a million times over for her to be happy and stable.” His words tug at my heart as I let myself start to drift off to sleep. Hopefully finally able to get the rest that I lacked early this morning.

“The intentions are sweet, really they are,” I hear Ella continue, “but she was unstable long before she found herself in that clubhouse.” If I was feeling well, I would have to keep myself from smirking.

“What you mean?”

“That’s not my story to tell…” Sleep takes hold of me before she has the chance to finish her statement.

There’s a low laughter as my mind starts to clear, and I know it’s Ro before I’m completely awake. Opening my eyes, I look up at him above me as he watches the TV, and the sight takes me by surprise. He looks more at ease than I have seen him the entire time I’ve known him.

More at ease than when I had seen him before.

He laughs again as his hand rests on my arm, and I can’t help but smile. Mostly because the fluids that Fury had given me earlier are finally starting to take effect. I’m not sure when him and Ella left, but I’m glad that they did. It’s just too much for me to deal with at the moment.
