“I doubt it.” Shrugging. “I remember saying something about we all have secrets.” I sigh. “But when I woke up this morning, it’s all I could think about. I knew if I stayed till he woke up, I’d blurt it out.”
“Blurt what out?” Low asks.
“How I’d miscarried right after we broke up.”
“Drew!”Low gasps as she looks back at me.“What…?”
“I wouldn’t have told anyone. Liv only knows because she was there. And I kinda trauma-dumped on her.”
I feel the tears falling from my eyes, and Liv pulls me close to her body. “Shh,” consoling me as she strokes my hair again.
“I love him so much it hurts.” Whispering as I look up at her.
“Have you told him that?”
“It doesn’t matter; he doesn’t want me.”
“He sure as hell wanted you last night.” Low states.
“What?”
“He couldn’t stop watching you.” She says in a whisper. “I told him he needed to up his stealth game, even though he was drunk, cause if he kept looking at you like he was claiming you, they’d piece it together.”
“He didn’t.”
“Nope, he said he can’t have what he wants.”
The statement seems similar to me as I listen to her, like I also heard it last night
“Eli, please, you don’t want me. You made that abundantly clear.” I shout at him. The cheers filtering in from outside contrasting the emotional tension in the room.
“No.” He pauses, taking a deep breath as his tongue comes out, licking his lips. “I can’t have you; there’s a difference.”
“Can’t… don’t… it’s the same outcome.”
“Is it?” his body pressing me hard against the door. I can feel his length hard against my stomach. “If I could have you, do you think I would be sitting in this room all alone, so goddamn hard I can’t think straight because all I can think about is my cock down your throat?” leaning in to me, he stops mere inches from my lips. “I could never not want you.”
“Then why’d you leave?” I ask him in a pained voice. The sadness inside me bubbling up past the surface.
His eyes reflect how I feel.
Instead of answering, his lips come down hard against mine, swallowing the gasp that escapes me. I don’t pull back; instead, my arms wrap around his neck, pulling him closer. His hands in my hair, tilting my head to give himself better access.
He pulls back abruptly as my hands unhook his belt.
“Fuck!”he shouts, hitting the door hard and causing it to rattle against the frame.
I’m slid to the side by the door as he moves out of the room and back across the hall to his old room.
“He told me that.” I sigh. “Right before we kissed.”
I’m across the hall after him, shutting the door quietly as he stands facing his old bed, his back to me.
“You don’t get to storm into my room, tell me you want me but you can’t have me, kiss me, and then leave.”
“I didn’t mean to kiss you. Shit, I didn’t mean to follow you.”
“Then why did you?” I ask, stepping in closer to him.
