The next laser that’s shot is a very defined beam and the asshole hits the ground rolling the rest of the way down a steep hill.
Hells Bells. I watch a big guy looking down the hill then see the view from his perch.
“Looks dead to me.” His name, Mader, and words show on the side.
I keep watching but listen to the words spoken.
They’re leaving him food and water in a cooler with no ice. The food is birds and some rat looking thing. I stop listening and look at Nash who I notice is built like Mase but has dirty blond hair. They’re close to the same height too.
Mase looks right at me. “We’re Blackhawks. Nash is my nephew.”
I nod. “Got it.”
Nash laughs. “I need to check the chopper. Asa and Alder are headed to Bravo.”
“I have Asa and Sophie’s gearboxes. She put in for clothes at Bravo and Asa had the Prospects pack instruments for him. He’s at Bravo until a build is done. Alder is working from the ABSZ.”
Nash starts jogging but turns while still heading for the door. “I’ll get their boxes and stop at Sentinel for Hud’s. You got Alpha?”
“Yeah. Hud has a box at Bravo. You have no stops. I’ll meet you there after I drop Kateri and the kids at ABSZ.”
“Roger, Brother.” Nash turns then he’s gone, he didn’t open the door, he just vanished.
Mase shakes his head.
I don’t since he did. “You wear buckskin pants when you’re off?”
That surprises him. “Always.”
I nod and walk to the next section. Nash was in them with a Sentinel Rising polo when I met him at Bravo. It must be a Blackhawk thing.
“Tribal.”
I look around but don’t see anyone. Tribal thing, I think and shake my head watching the mission happening right in front of me like this is all normal and part of my every day. It is neither.

Nash slaps my back. “Later, Brother.”
I turn and slap a hand on the stool he just left so I don’t land on my ass. “Later.”
The Club is still packed. I didn’t notice the new faces I see now. Charlie’s Angel’s eyes lock on mine as she nods for something Nash said as he walked by. I don’t know what he said but watch her walk my way a little unsteady.
As she gets within ear shot, I ask, “You okay?”
“Yeah, the blond Indian said to stick close to you. I don’t know all these Brothers but I’m Honor.”
From what I’ve seen, she’s all about honor. It dawns on me she means the Club. “No, some are California, I don’t know the others. You know SOAR members?” I’ve been dying to ask that since I saw her talking to a few of the members.
“Yeah, joint operations paired me with the Stalkers a few times. The President, Vapor, was a Commander and pulled me to a few of theirs for consult.” She’s tight lipped about classified.
“I saw a face or two that I knew.” For the life of me, I can’t see them now. I put my glass down and raise a hand, then sign for water.
“I’m a little cloudy too.” She has me signing two. “Whydon’t you like pretty women?”
