“Nah, you’re not that bad.”

“I think you’re fun!” Ellis piped up. “And so is Daddy. And me. I’m fun.”

“You are the most fun,” I said, tweaking her nose. That only made her giggle. A pang shot through my heart as Cole’s face entered my mind. Ellis was the perfect mix between Rosalie and Cole. Rosalie’s curly hair. Cole’s big blue eyes. Cole’s blond hair. Both Cole and Rosalie’s intelligence. Rosalie’s talent in the performing arts. And sometimes, Cole’s anger. Ellis already spoke Italian, English, German, and could sign. Anson was a master at languages, and we’d all sort of picked up German because of Klaus.

“Trixie, do you know my first daddy?” Ellis asked.

Trix glanced at me. “Uh, sorry, honey, I, um, never met him, but I am certain he’s just as fun as the other daddies are.”

“Daddy said I have his eyes.” She wiggled in her seat again. “He has blue eyes and hair just like mine.”

We’d only ever told her these things. She’d never seen a picture of him despite us having them. Rosalie said she’d show her soon. She’d been talking about Cole a lot more lately, though.

“Nugget, has first daddy been on your mind a lot lately?” I ventured.

She nodded. “Penelope said I’m weird because I have so many. I told her I’m lucky. She said my first daddy never liked me and that’s why he’s gone.”

I frowned at her words. Penelope was a little girl in her pre-school. The kid always seemed to have something to say.

“Penelope is wrong,” I said gently. “First daddy loves you very much.”

“Then why doesn’t he come see me?” Her blue eyes were so big and innocent as she stared at me.

She was way too smart for her age.

“Uh, he’s busy,” I said, wincing.

“Does he love Mommy?”

Fucking hell.

“Yes, he loves Mommy,” I replied. “But let’s not talk about that right now. Let’s talk about Mommy’s concert.”

“Will we have pizza and ice cream after, like that one time?” She blinked at me.

“Yeah. I think we will,” I said, smiling down at her, grateful she was willing to change the subject.

Trix shot me a look that said she was glad, too.

I wasn’t so sure how much longer we could avoid talking about Cole, though. Ellis seemed intent these days on knowing him. That could change a hell of a lot of things.

Anson,Klaus, and Dante left for the venue, leaving Ro and me with Ellis. Klaus had some men hang out outside our door. Ryder had to go to the airport to collect Trent and wouldn’t be back for a few hours, and Trix had gone to hang out with the band.

Ellis had fallen asleep on the couch, and I took that opportunity to haul my girl into our bedroom.

I didn’t get nearly enough time alone with her, so I took my victories where I could get them.

“Fuck, baby, I’ve missed you,” I husked out as I thrust into her tight pussy.

Her nails dug deep into my skin, making me groan softly at the pure pleasure of it all.

“Evan,” she moaned softly, her body quivering as I fucked deep into her.

I kept my head shaved these days, so she couldn’t tangle her fingers into my hair like she once did. It made me want to grow it back out just so she could, but it had been years since I’d done that.

A lot about me had changed. Fox had died so long ago now that he seemed like a good dream I’d once had. Now I was Evan, the tatted beast with a violent streak that I’d let out if I got the chance to find the fucks who hurt my girl.

“More,” Ro moaned, jutting her hips up as I slowed my movements.
