Nico smiles down at his food. “Thanks, Serenity.”
He looks so happy it makes my heart hurt even more.
“You’re welcome.” I cut into my pancakes and slip a forkful into my mouth.
Miff appears out of thin air. Where the hell did he come from?
“Good morning, Nico, Serenity.”
I frown. “Good morning, Spider-Man,” I sneer.
He chuckles. “Funny.”
His gaze falls on Nico, who’s about to slip a forkful of pancakes into his mouth.
“Boss, don’t.”
Nico sighs and pushes the plate away.
My mouth drops open. “Now you’re too good to eat my meal?”
“It’s not like that, future wife.”
Miff pulls a small, clear case of blue liquid from his pocket.
My heart feels like it’s about to burst out of my chest.
Miff puts a forkful of pancakes into the blue liquid.
“The boss knows he can’t eat anyone’s food unless it’s tested first.”
I grab the container and toss it across the room. The box burst open.
I glare at Nico. “I won’t ever share a meal with you again.”
Picking up my plate, I stalk out of the kitchen, not looking back.
Fuck, I can’t even kill him right.
At this point, I don’t know how I’ll get out of this situation. I lost my appetite, so I place my plate on the dresser. After stripping off my clothes, I stroll into the shower, flip on the water, and sit on the bench.
What am I going to do? Eyes closed, I blow out a breath.
I hear the shower door open with force. “Is this where we are, Serenity?” His powerful voice bounces off the shower walls.
I don’t bother opening my eyes. I almost killed the…a statement I’ve only whispered I willingly push back down.
Slowly my gray eyes open and I meet his brown-eyed gaze. “If you didn’t want the meal I cooked. All you had to say was no thanks.”
Standing on his knees on the smooth gold and black speckled floor, he palms my face. I can see the man I loved breaking before my eyes.
I can’t help the small smile that teeters on the edge of my lips.
“Serenity, you tried to poison me,” he grits out.
For some strange reason, I want to stick my tongue out and lick his lips. Nico is a drug. Anytime I’m around him, it’s almost impossible to resist him.
“I’d like to finish my shower. So I can get dressed. I have to meet my boyfriend, Kobi.”
