“In case nobody ever taught you manners, a locked door meansstay out!”

Julez's shock only lasts a moment before I see his eyes sparkle with mischief.

Leaning down into her space, he grips her wrist, pulling her arm back until her finger hangs limply in the air between them for a moment before he catches it between his teeth.

The tiny gasp that leaves her parted lips makes my cock twitch, even if I don’t like her.

She’s beautiful, and if she weren’t Gavin’s problem and I didn’t have so much going on with my family and school, I might see the appeal. Well, that and the fact that she’s not like us…

But my life isn’t as free as Julez’s, and I don’t have the same luxury of fucking anyone who’s slightly interested.

My cock does more than twitch this time, and I realize I need to do something, anything else. Standing around watching their little show is going to get me into trouble.

And I do that well enough all on my own.

It takes more self-control than it should, but I pull my gaze from them, reminding myself of the fact that I have places to be, literally anywhere she isn’t.

I head out into the hall and breathe a sigh of relief. It’s quiet and deserted, still too early for the masses.

Suddenly full of excess energy, I head down to the weight-training gym to hit a workout.

Avoiding her will ensure I’m in the best possible shape of my life; maybe her being here isn’t all bad.

What’s the point of the lock if he has a key?

I’m still fuming, but there isn’t much I can do other than maybe bring a chair in with me to block it.

I’ll have to see about getting that key off him.

“Earth to Pookie,” Julez says, getting in my face, and I scowl at him.

“What on earth is that nickname?” I ask, my lips curling in distaste. I mean, yes, the fact that he has a nickname for me makes my heart beat faster, and my stomach feel like it’s full of butterflies trying to escape, but…

Pookie. Really?

“You don’t like Pookie?” Julez seems almost genuinely hurt, and I worry my lip for a second before I see the mischief dance in his eyes.

“It almost feels like an insult,” I tell him as I finish off the plate of food he gave me. Gavin had watched him hand it to me, and I swear he’d almost had an aneurysm, but he hadn’t said anything.

Of course, good things don’t last forever.

“It is,” Gavin says as he moves to put his dish in the sink without so much as glancing my way.

I get that we’ve always been rivals, but I wasn’t aware that hereallyhated me.

It would seem that the only person who doesn’t dislike me is Julez, and I’m almost positive that it has more to do with what’s between my legs than anything else.

“Get fucked. It is not, asshole.”

Gavin doesn’t respond, instead heading out, and when I glance at my phone, I see that I need to do the same.

“Let me walk you to class.” Julez pushes up from the table, and Titus does the same, his usual scowl in place as he handles not only his but Julez’s plate too.

Strange.

It’s on the tip of my tongue to refuse him, but even with his very thorough tour, I’m not sure I can make it to class without getting lost, and the last thing I need on my first day is to be the center of attention.

“Okay,” I say after a moment's hesitation, and jump when Julez lets out a whoop of excitement and punches the air a few times.
