Kyrie:Nawl.
Kyrie:What happened?
I bit my lip while looking around the club again.
Me:Some weird shit happened but I’m okay.
The second I sent the message, my phone started ringing.
“Kyrie calling?” Drayla asked loudly over the music.
“Girl, yes.”
I answered before pressing the phone against my ear. “Hello?”
“What weird shit?” Kyrie's voice instantly filled my ear. Deep. Irritated.
“Nobody did nothing,” I replied quickly. “Somebody just sent drinks over with a weird note attached.”
The line got quiet for a second.
“What note?”
I sighed softly. “It said I can’t keep you forever.”
There was another pause. And somehow, that silence felt worse.
“Send me your location again,” he finally said. Calm. Too calm.
“Kyrie—”
“Send it.”
I rolled my eyes even though he couldn’t see me before sending it anyway.
A few seconds later, my phone buzzed again.
Kyrie:Stay by Drayla.
Kyrie:And if a nigga walks up bothering you, I’m beating his ass.
That should’ve made me laugh. Normally, it would’ve. But before I could even text him back, a bright camera flash suddenly went off near us.
I turned my head quickly and caught somebody lowering their phone.
“What the hell?” Drayla frowned.
And that uneasy feeling in my stomach instantly came back stronger.
Yeah… I was officially ready to leave.
I grabbed my clutch before turning toward Drayla.
“Girl, I think I’m gon’ head out.”
“Already?” She frowned.
“Yeah.” I glanced around the club one more time. “My vibe is just off now.”
