Drayla followed my gaze before sighing.

“Probably for the best.”

After saying our goodbyes, I pulled out my phone and texted the driver to say I was ready.

A couple of minutes later, I made my way through the crowd and headed outside.

The cool air instantly hit my skin. And for the first time all night, I felt like I could finally breathe.

I started toward the black truck near the curb before slowing down.

My eyebrows pulled together. The driver wasn't in the front seat.

As a matter of fact, the whole damn truck was running.

“What the hell?”

Before I could get any closer, the driver's side door opened.

And my mouth dropped.

“Kyrie?”

His tall ass climbed out the truck before slamming the door shut behind him.

“What are you doing here?”

He shoved one hand into his pocket before walking over to me.

“You ready?”

“Kyrie.”

“What?”

“Why are you here?”

He stopped in front of me before looking me over from head to toe like he was checking to make sure I was alright.

Then his jaw tightened.

“’Cause somebody got my wife uncomfortable, and I wasn't finna sit in that house.”

My heart did a stupid little flip.

“Kyrie, I'm fine.”

“Nawl.” He shook his head immediately. “You said you were fine before, then told me somebody sent you some weird ass note.”

I opened my mouth, closed it, then opened it again.

“Still.”

“Still nothing.” He reached for my hand. “Get in the truck.”

“Bossy.”

“Get in the truck, Sianni.”
