“For Tripp,” I clarified.
“Easton already gave him the name.”
I made a mental note to get the info since I was pretty sure that fell under my duties as assistant.
After vowing to get together for brunch—even if we had to kidnap Wren to make it happen—Maddie went to continue packing up her apartment.
I stared at the door for a while after she left, a smile on my face.
She’s actually moving in with a guy. And she isn’t the least bit freaked despite the fact she’s always been happy alone.
It probably won’t be long until Wren moves in with Chris—if she isn’t already.
And I’m…
Figuring things out.
Putting that last part into a box to deal with at a later time, I grabbed my phone to inform our third friend of the Sunday plan, threat included.
But when I checked my cell, everything was glitchy. I could barely open an app before it would freeze.
It took multiple times restarting it before I could get into the settings to turn off the blitz of notifications. Even then, everything was sluggish.
Did I accidentally stay logged into Tripp’s accounts?
I usually handled the social media stuff on his phone because his verified settings prevented the avalanche of notifications thatleft my cell literally hot to the touch. But I had logged in a few times from my device to quickly do stuff.
Guessing that something got wonky somewhere along the way, I opened TikTok first to see thousands of new followers.
Yup, I’m Tripp.
But when I went to the profile to toggle back to mine, I saw I wasn’t Tripp.
I was me.
Me, but with a shit-ton of followers and tags.
It has to be from the event last night.
Do people really follow a celebrity’s random assistant?
Who am I kidding?
Of course, they do.
They were in for a boring treat, however. I posted about brunch. Yoga. Hikes. I’d never recorded a video in Tripp’s house or even near him for my own account, so they could scour my page, but there wouldn’t be a sign of him.
A bunch more notification bubbles showed up in the menu bar, and my curiosity got the better of me. I clicked one.
Oh no.
It wasn’t a video of my boss with me in the background.
It was when he’d come over to flirt with me.
I’d thought we were out of view of any cameras. More than that, I thought it just looked like we were talking. I didn’t understand why that garnered so much attention.
Unless they could somehow hear the filthy-sweet things Tripp had said.
