He closed the door, and I expected him to stand there or maybe sit at his desk. Instead, he sat at the center of the couch and slouched back.

Behind his desk, he looked every bit the boss he was.

Sitting like that, so effortlessly dominant, he was like a king looking at all that belonged to him.

He gave a lazy spin of his finger. “What did you need?”

You.

Shit.

I cleared my throat a little. “I, uh, noticed the umbrellas and swords. I’m assuming that was because of what I said to LaQuin. If so, thanks.”

“Did you see the drink stuff?”

I nodded. “Thank you for that, but I don’t drink here.”

“Now you will.”

“I… Okay.” I inhaled deeply and did something I loathed. Not because I was too proud to admit I’d messed up. I just hated having a reason to do it. But since I did, I apologized. “I also wanted to say that I’m sorry.”

Another brow raise. It was sexy.

I didn’t trust it.

“About?” he rumbled.

“For last night. That was… I shouldn’t have… I know this isn’t the time to get into it, but I wanted to say I’m sorry.”

“So say it.”

“What?”

“You keep saying that youwantedto say sorry. So say it.”

Ididwant to, but maybe now I don’t.

Since saying that or rolling my eyes would negate the apology I owed, I kept myself in check. “I’m sorry.”

“You aren’t.”

Okay, never mind.

I rolled my eyes and added an immature huff for good measure. “I wouldn’t have said it if I didn’t mean it.”

“You misunderstand, hellcat. You aren’t sorry. Not yet. But you will be.” I didn’t get the chance to ask what that meant when he put his boot to the edge of the coffee table and pushed it away while crooking two fingers with that same blasé attitude.

I went to him.

I couldn’tnot. My body moved like there was a string tethering those beckoning fingers to my buzzing clit.

When I stood in front of him, his lips curved into the wicked smirk he’d given me all night at the clubhouse. The one that held a warning. A challenge.

One he issued out loud. “Pull your pants and panties down to your knees.”

“W-what?” I stammered.

“I don’t repeat myself, Luna.”
