After the first couple of hours, I’d convinced myself that he was just pushing me. Teasing me. Seeing how far I would go—similar to at the Mayhem clubhouse. There was no vibration. No talk of it.
And that’d made sense. He cared about Rye too much to sabotage my bartending ability. Not to mention, the health code and public decency violations.
I let my guard down.
Again.
And once we were too busy for me to do anything about it, Rhys struck.
Each time I got into the zone, the vibration would start.
If I glared, he’d turn it up.
If he didn’t like the way a customer was flirting with me, he’d turn it up.
If I relaxed, he’d turn it up.
If I looked at him, silently pleading for us to go somewhere because Ineededrelease, he would turn it off.
Even then, I was keenly aware of the device nestled between my legs. The feel of that alone was enough to have me shifting on my feet and squeezing my thighs for relief.
I was on edge.
In public.
Forhours.
Sure, I could’ve gone to the bathroom and removed the damn thing. Or used it to get off. Or thrown it at Rhys’s head.
Better yet, all three by getting off, then removing it,thenthrowing it at him.
But I didn’t. Because Detective Luna Oscar was no quitter.
My fingers shook as I pulled the tap to fill a pint glass. The beer sloshed out a little when I lifted it. And then I nearly spilled the whole thing onto a guy’s lap when a jolt of lightning hit my overwhelmed and abused clit.
“Sorry,” I forced out to the man as I grabbed a napkin to wipe the foam that dripped down the outside of the glass.
“Are you okay?” he asked.
“Yup.” I faked a smile that probably skirted the line between friendly and maniacal as the vibration increased.
Okay, I give up.
I can’t do this.
I tried to appear nonchalant as I moved to where Rhys was shooting the shit with a couple of customers, along with Alice and Chuck.
Just having a grand ol’ time while I was dying.
Literally dying.
I let out anoofwhen he did the belt loop hook and tugged me closer. A much different noise threatened to push free when he angled his muscular thigh to push against me.
Oh fuck.
Tipping my head back, I forced my voice to stay firm. “Can I talk to you for a second?”
“Go ahead,” he said with what could only be described as an evil glint in his eyes. Seriously. All he was missing was a mustache to twirl or a cat to stroke, and he would have the villain look down pat.
