Fuck.

Ford nodded. “Best case scenario?”

“Nine months of rehab, minimum.”

“So he’s out for the rest of the season?”

She nodded.

“Mol, what’s the worst case?”

She looked down before she answered, her eyes returning to mine, red and watery. “He’s done. He won’t play again.”

Cooper and I stared at her. Her face showed more than tiredness from a late surgery. I suddenly realized how hard this must have been for her too. Felix was her friend as much as ours.

“Fuck. Fuck. Fucking Walls.” Jasper started pacing, his hands on his head.

Brogan let out a long sigh, Huck and Dante sat back down, their faces gray with worry.

“Can we see him?”

She shook her head. “He’s still in recovery and he’s heavily sedated. He needs sleep, but come back tomorrow. I’ll let him know you came when he wakes up.”

“Are you here all night?”

“Yes, I’ll stay with him.”

“Jesus.” Huck startled as the doctor near the door coughed. Molly turned and frowned at him. We’d all forgotten he was standing there, his weird smile still plastered on his face as he looked back at her.

Okay, you’re a fucking super creeper.

“Did you need something Doctor Jessop?”

“No, no. Just observing.”

Cooper moved closer to me, his voice low. “Is that fucking doctor staring at Molly’s ass?”

I watched him as Molly continued talking to Ford and Erica. His eyes were definitely trained south, but not low enough they were looking at the floor.

“Yeah, I think so. He looks like a fucking weirdo, and I don’t think his face moves.”

Molly opened the door. “Let me just go and find out what room he’ll be in so you can go straight there tomorrow.”

She walked out of the room, and this time, the look from Super Creep was definitely not a quick glance. He was full on checking her out as she walked down the hallway.

“Hey, Doc?”

Super Creep spun around, straight into Cooper’s hard, intimidating glare.

“Coop…” I warned, my voice low.

“Do me a favor, keep your eyes north of the border and off my sister’s ass.”

He tried to hide his shock at being caught. Not sure why, seeing as he was as subtle as an ambulance siren, then his eyes widened with interest.

“Doctor Marks is your sister?”

“Yep.” Cooper let the p pop for emphasis.
