We used Felix’s office to call our lawyer, dialing him in on the conference phone. I took a seat at the desk while Jupiter paced back and forth, his hands on his head.

“Hello?”

“Hi, David, it’s Drew and Jupiter.”

“Hi both, how are you holding up? How’s Emerson?”

“Not great.”

He tutted. “No, I can imagine. Look we have some good news, we’ve managed to get both stories pulled down from Page Six, but it has gone elsewhere, so we suggest the same approach for all outlets.”

“Fine, that sounds good. Thank you. Whatever you can do.”

“I have to say it’s been nice to work on something completely fabricated. It makes our jobs slightly easier.”

Jupiter blew out an exasperated puff of air and rolled his eyes.

“David? The restraining order you drafted, is it confidential? Can we send it to the hospital that Richard Jessop works at?”

He was silent for a moment. “Yes, technically you could. Why? You want to do it?”

“Yes. We’re putting out a statement to say everything is false, which Mary will send out, but if we share it with you, can you draft a letter and send it to the hospital with the statement and proof of the restraining order?”

“Yes, I can.”

“Great, Mary will share it with you. Thanks, David, thanks for your help. We’ll talk later.”

“Okay, bye.”

Well at least that’s something. I punched Mary’s number into the phone.

“What’ve you got for me then?” she answered in typical Mary fashion, getting straight to the point, without bothering to say hello.

“I’m sending you what Jupiter and I have drafted,” I told her as I forwarded it over to her email.

She was silent as she read it over.

“This is good. Let me edit it a bit and I’ll send it back. Give me ten minutes.”

“Okay, thanks.”

“Drew, I’m glad you’re doing this. That girl deserves it.”

I leaned forward in the chair. “Yes, I know.”

“Jupiter, are you there?”

He moved closer to the speaker on the desk, leaning over. “Yep.”

“Good, I’ll send this over to Matt and he can share it. Makes a nice change this does. Also, let me know if you ever want new representation; I do a better job at keeping my clients out of the press than he does. Usually anyway.”

Jupiter chuckled.

“Sure. Thanks, Mary. Talk to you later.”

I hung up. We went back into the kitchen and sat down, waiting.

“All sorted?” asked Jasper.
