“Yeah, we just need Mary to send the final edit through.”
Mine and Jupiter’s phones both pinged at the same time. I opened up the email to the statement Mary had sent.
A STATEMENT
We have always been honest with our fans and though we wouldn’t normally comment on our private lives, we don’t believe we’ve been left with any other options.
The stories reported over the last few days are not only inaccurate but completely fabricated. While we understand the interest in our professional lives, it cannot be at the personal cost of someone we both love.
To straighten some facts; Mr. Crawley and Ms. Reeves met socially eighteen months ago, independently of her brother. Ms. Reeves was not in a relationship with anyone else at the time. Any reports described otherwise are entirely false. Additionally, Mr. Reeves’ private social life, while often the subject of tabloid gossip, has never included the so called ‘sex parties’, as labelled by salacious media publications.
There will be no further comment on this matter, and we trust you, our loyal fans, to recognize the truth from the lies.
I took a deep breath; I hoped it would help. There wasn’t much more we could do, and at least the stories were being taken down, slowly.
“Okay, press send on our social media. Mary has issued it to the press and sent it to the hospital. The lawyers have also shared it with the hospital, along with proof of the restraining order.”
“And now we wait for the fallout.”
“Yep.” I stood up. “I need to find Emerson before it starts getting dark. I’ve tried calling her and she’s not picking up her phone.”
“Have you looked for her?” Felix asked.
“What do you mean? How am I supposed to have done that?”
“On your tracker.”
I frowned at him. “What tracker?”
“Your car tracker. She’s in your car, use the tracker, genius. Or look on Find My Friends.”
“Jesus. Stalker 101 over here,” muttered Cooper as he walked over to the fridge.
I pulled up my car tracker app, the little blue dot was flashing and I zoomed out, my heart nearly pounding out of my chest when I realized where she was.
I fucking loved this woman more than I could possibly have ever imagined, and I didn’t deserve her in any way.
Jupiter handed me his phone. “Find My Friends says she’s at home.”
“What? No she’s not. That’s not where the car is.”
He shrugged. “Maybe she ran out without it then. She was pretty fucking angry.”
“Yeah, maybe. Well, I need to go home first anyway before I go to where the car is, so either way, I’ll find her. Are you staying here or coming?”
“Nah, I’ll stay with Clevs for a bit, beat his ass at Xbox.”
Felix snorted.
“Okay cool, see you later.”
I grabbed Murray as I walked past him and out of the house. “Hey, Muz, is everything still good on what we discussed last week? It’s all ready?”
He nodded. “Yeah, ready for when you need it.”
I slapped him on the arm. “Thanks, buddy. I appreciate it.”
I ran outside and jumped in the car.
