I laughed at her. This was the excitable Molly I knew and loved.
“I’ll take you, but it’ll cost you an apology kiss.”
Because after yesterday, I still wanted to kiss her at any opportunity, and for whatever reason I could to make up for the years of kissing I never properly appreciated. Although, even if I had appreciated them, I still don’t think I would ever have enough of kissing her.
She rolled her eyes, but softened in my arms. “Okay, but then I really do have to go, because I do have to work.”
“Deal.”
She lifted up on her tiptoes, her lips touching mine and opening just enough for a me to do a quick sweep of my tongue before pulling away, dropping my arms, but leaving one around her shoulder.
“Okay, now we can go. She’s in room thirty-four twenty.”
I led her toward Freddie’s room, which was when I noticed Murray standing in the entrance to the floor watching us, his arms crossed over his chest with an annoying-as-fuck smirk plastered on his face.
Busted.
“You go ahead, I’ll catch up.” I kissed Molly’s head and she skipped off to Freddie’s room, not bothering to reply, not seeing what I’d seen.
I stood still as he sauntered over to me. Dressed in a very sharp looking suit and tie, he’d obviously come straight from work.
“Mate, what did I just witness?”
I pushed my hands down in the pockets of my track pants. “Nothing. You witnessed nothing.”
His stupid grin widened as his eyebrows shot up. “Okay…”
But actually, I had wanted to talk to him and get some marginally sage advice on dating the sibling of your best friend, even if I had originally planned on it being more of a hypothetical situation.
I scratched through my hair. “Oh, for fucks sake. Something’s happening between Molly and me, and Coop doesn’t know yet. I need to tell him, obviously, and I’m pretty sure I know how that’s going to go down. But, I wanted to ask, how did you feel when Coop and Freddie got together?”
He looked at me, questioningly. “Wait, this is for real? You and Molly?”
Did I stutter?
“Yes, that’s what I just said.”
His head fell back with a loud laugh. “Oh my God, how did I not see this before? Of course you two are together.”
“Murray, what the fuck are you talking about?”
“You and Molly. How long has this been going on?”
“Unofficially? A little over a month. Officially? Twenty-six hours.”
He almost went cross-eyed in confusion. “I don’t understand.”
“Aren’t you supposed to be some kind of genius?”
“Only with numbers, not your bloody love life. No one’s clever enough for that. Can you start from the beginning please?”
I watched a nurse pass by with a tray full of the little blood vials Marco used on me. “After my accident, when I was on pain meds, I kissed her but I couldn’t quite remember it, so I kissed her again and it’s made me realize I want to keep kissing her...”
He held his hand up to stop me. “Alright, Barbara Cartland.”
“Who?”
“Never mind. You’ve really not been together longer than a day? Because that would make a lot of sense.”
