They both looked at me, their faces telling me they knew exactly what I was feeling. A massive cheer went up from the crowds and I glanced over to see the players had started their pre-game skate.
“Em, please can you help me up so I can pee before the game starts?”
I laughed at Wolfie’s outstretched arms and pulled her to standing, walking back to join Freddie at the railings, as she waddled off.
All the players from both teams were on the ice, sprinting up and down, knocking the pucks back and forth. I scoured the rinklooking for Drew, and when I finally spotted him, I don’t know how I missed him. He was with Felix, the pair of them equally enormous, throwing and catching pucks with their sticks. They had such good dexterity and hand/eye coordination, they could probably make it as pro tennis players if they ever quit hockey.
Time was called and the ice was cleared, both teams skating off to their benches just as Wolfie returned.
“Oh good, I didn’t miss anything. Let’s hope I can hang on until the end of the period before I need to go again.” She sat down on one of the chairs overlooking the arena.
The crowds were going crazy, chants and Mexican waves between eighteen thousand people made a lot of noise. The buzzers sounded and the starting lineups from both sides made their way out onto the ice, Jasper and the opposing Captain talking to the one of the referees before they took their positions.
But my gaze was fixed on only one player, number 77, on the right of Cooper in the middle, Felix on the left. His shoulder was already dropped against the guy he was marking and I almost felt sorry for him because Drew really was absolutely enormous. The puck dropped and I nearly fell off my chair at Freddie screaming. Cooper swept it away, up the ice, passing it over to Felix.
But I couldn’t take my eyes off Drew, watching him knock a guy on his ass with what looked like barely a nudge before skating up the ice, keeping close to Cooper and intercepting anyone who got in the way of the puck and the goal. He was so fast, shooting across the rink, taking control of the puck and passing it to any one of his teammates, that if I blinked for longer than a split second, I lost him.
Another guy hit the boards… Drew the human bowling ball, and they, his feeble, wobbly pins. The girls had been correct; this was nothing like TV, and nothing could have prepared mefor seeing it live. The aggression was another level. And it was fucking sexy. I had not expected it to be so sexy.
But, holy shit was it sexy.
I’d never been one to brag, but that was my boyfriend down there.
My boyfriend.
Seeing him take that guy out should definitely not have turned me on as much as it did, but I could say with absolute certainty that my panties were no longer dry. And I don’t think it had anything to do with the fact that we hadn’t had sex today.
My entire body was tingling, his promise of fucking me once we were home at the forefront of my mind while I watched him sprint along the ice, flicking the puck over to Cooper.
“FUCKING GET IT! YES BABY!” screamed Freddie, as he shot it to the back of the net, while she jumped up and down.
All the guys landed on Cooper, slapping his back, knocking his head. He looked up to our box and the camera showed him winking at Freddie. She blew kisses back to him, her eyes filling with tears.
The boys took their places on center ice again, ready for the drop. This time Drew took control, sweeping it away, his massive legs powering him forward. He flicked the puck over to Felix before skimming around the boards, taking control once more and slamming it into the goal. The Rangers had a two - nil lead, all within a matter of minutes.
It was a wonder the other team even bothered showing up, they’d barely had contact.
Wolfie, Freddie, and I started screaming again. The crowds were going wild, those near the boards smacking their hands against the plexiglass. My eyes were glued to Drew, and just as Cooper had, he turned to our box, pointing his stick at me with the biggest grin I’d ever seen. As big as the one I was currently sporting.
The buzzer went, claiming both the end of the first period and my voice, now hoarse from screaming so loudly. I watched all the players make their way off the ice, waiting until Drew was completely out of sight before I turned back to the room.
“It’s fucking hot, right?” Freddie asked as she nudged me.
I puffed out my cheeks. “I gotta say I was not expecting that. It’s so different to watching at home.”
“Told you,” she grinned. “I hope you’ll come to more home games with us.”
“Try and keep me away!” I laughed, picking up some food from the table.
The second and third periods carried on in much the same way, the game ending in a shutout - or what I wanted to call total and complete annihilation.
Seriously, the other team should have stayed home.
We waited for Wolfie to pee for the seventy fifth time then left the suite, making our way through the corridors of the arena. The walls were covered with pictures of the teams that had played there, from the Rangers to the Knicks, along with bands through the years, from The Rolling Stones to Madonna.
It was definitely very cool.
The further we walked the busier it got, even though we were effectively backstage and none of the crowds had access here. Management staff, arena assistants, physicians, and sports journalists were all working hard in their post-game roles. I was so busy looking around that I didn’t notice Freddie had stopped and nearly walked into her.
