My brows knotted together. I’d literally put the phone down on him as I arrived in work. “What? How?”
His smirk was as mischievous as it was infectious. “He texted me and threatened to kick my ass.”
My mouth set in a hard line.Fucking Jupiter.
He cupped my cheeks. “Nah, it’s all good, sweetheart. He’s just protecting you. Come on; introduce me to your work friends.”
We turned to the desk to find everyone staring at us, tracking every movement Drew was making. Mikey had his chin in his hands, his elbows on the desk, like he was watching a movie. He just needed a bucket of popcorn.
And was he drooling?
I huffed, still annoyed at my idiot brother.
“Guys, this is Drew,” He nudged me, “My boyfriend.” Mikey clutched his chest dramatically and I rolled my eyes. “Babe, this is Mikey, Rose, and Ashley, who you’ve met before.”
“Hey, guys, good to meet you. Em talks about you a lot, so I needed to put faces to names.”
They all stared. Actually, they were gawping.
In quite an embarrassing way.
We’d had sports players in here before, as well as celebrities, and no one ever seemed to care that much, so I’m not sure what the big deal was here.
Although Drew didn’t seem to be phased at all.
“Luck, do you want to get your things?” He turned to me, nudging my ribs again when I didn’t move.
“Okay, sure.”
As I walked off to the lockers, I heard Mikey ask what Luck meant. Grabbing everything as quickly as possible, not wanting to leave Drew with the pack of hyenas for longer than necessary, I walked out while pulling my hoodie over my head, to find them all laughing together.
Mikey’s hand was still clutched to his chest. “Oh God, that is the cutest story I’ve ever heard. It’s like a fairytale.”
Drew took my backpack, slinging it over his shoulder, and tugged the last bit of my hoodie down, kissing the side of my head. “Hear that? We’re like a fairytale. That must make me Prince Charming.”
I looked between the lot of them and couldn’t help laughing.
“Oh, Jeez.”
And then it hit me like the sunrise on my early mornings… this is what a proper relationship must be like with a boyfriend that your friends liked, a boyfriend who made an effort with people who were important to you.
“Come on then, Prince Charming, say goodbye to your new friends and let’s go home.”
He waved. “Bye, guys, see you soon. It was great meeting you all. I’ll bring the boys back in for a class soon.”
“Please do!” called Mikey as I dragged Drew out.
He flung his arm around my neck the second we stepped onto the street, pulling me into him, his open mouth surrounding mine in a hot, wet kiss, slipping his tongue for a brief stroke against mine before moving back.
“That was fun. I’ve never been introduced as a boyfriend before.”
I laughed. His face was so full of mischief and excitement that I wanted to do it all over again.
“I liked that too. And I loved that my boyfriend came to pick me up from work. That’s a new one for me too, and it’s a lovely surprise.”
“Yeah?”
“Yeah.”
