Shit, even I’m not convinced. Both the girls look at me like they know something I don’t. Their smiles turn to giggles when they share a look.

“Alright. Alright,” Hunter says, patting my knee. “Not team Grayson, got it.”

I cross my arms over my chest. “Well, I didn’t say that…”

“So you’re saying there’s a chance,” Laine squeals, he cheeks rosy from the alcohol.

“They would make cute babies,” Hunter adds in.

I groan, throwing a pillow over my face. “You guys are the worst.”

We aren’t even paying attention to the movie now, more using it as background noise. That’s what girls nights are all about, though, right? Bonding and gossiping while getting drunk off tequila. If I knew they were this fun, I would have been doing this a long time ago.

“Speaking of boys…” Hunter trails off. “How long is it until I can call myself a born again virgin? The dating pool here is non-existent. She’s all dried up. Between that and working at the bar 24/7, my vibrator has been working overtime. The poor thing is ready to fall apart. Please tell me one of you is getting enough for all of us.”

Laine’s hands fly up defensively. “Don’t look at me.” She looks away, trying to brush off Hunter’s words, but there’s definitely a pink tint to her cheeks. I know Grayson has mentioned he thought Chesney had a thing for his sister at one point.

Is there something there?

Before I can finish the thought, Hunter pounces on me. “What about you, city girl? Any juicy dick knocking on your door? I bet they have some fancy men in New York who would spoil the shit out of you.”

I shove her off playfully, downing the rest of my margarita. “I wouldn’t know. I’ve sworn off all men.” I twirl my finger in the air. “There will be no men coming near this.”

Hunter takes my empty glass, getting up to refill it. Apparently, we aredrinkingdrinking tonight. “That’s no fun. Please explain why we are boycotting men? I need some dick in my life.”

“Men are trash,” Laine interjects, downing the rest of her drink too.

“That,” I agree with her, “and they are cheaters.”

Hunter returns with two fresh margaritas. “Who do I need to kill, babe? I’ll do it, no questions asked.”

I take the drink, thanking her. “That would be my loser ex. You’ll never believe how I found out.” I take a giant sip to down the memory.

Hunter scoots to the edge of the couch, leaning in. “Well, go on.”

I sigh, thinking back. “He left his lunch at home. So, like the dotting girlfriend I am, I decided to use my lunch break to hand deliver it to him. Turns out, he was too busy fucking his coworker…on his desk…with his door unlocked. His dick jackhammering into her will be fried into my brain until the day I die.” I fill them in on the rest of the story, making sure not to leave out the part of him begging, naked on his knees, in front of his coworkers or the ring I found.

“Asshole!” Hunter yells, hopping off the couch. “That story deserves tequila shots. Up you go, bitches.”

Hunter drags us off the couch, lining up three clear shot glasses. Tequila is filled to the brim, spilling over the sides. We each claim one and raise them high.

“Cheers to the fuckers who made us cry. Cheers to the ones who left our pillows dry. Cheers to the assholes whose dickssuck. And cheers to the ones who know how to fuck. Finally, cheers to men for teaching us a vibrating dildo is all we can trust,” Hunter shouts, clinking our glasses in celebration.

“Hell ya,” I add, throwing back my shot. It burns the whole way down, and I’m scared it might come back up. “Shit, that’s strong.”

Hunter winks. “Only the best for my girls.”

“I’m so going to regret this in the morning,” Laine groans. “I can already hear Nova yelling in my ear for pancakes at seven a.m.”

Pancakes.

All it takes is one single word to have my mind drifting to him. I try to push thoughts of him feeding me out of my head, but it isn’t working. All I see are his strong arms as he plates up food for Nova.

“You know what? We’re already past the point of return. We might as well do another one.” I pray this one takes away the feeling of Grayson’s finger brushing mine and replaces it with the radio silence I’ve received from him the past two weeks until he randomly chose to acknowledge me today.

Hunter slaps the counter. “That’s the spirit, tiger. Hold that thought.” She disappears into her room, returning with a mini speaker. The songShotsby Lil Jon blares through the speaker, Hunter shakes her hips to the beat before slamming it on the counter.

“What the hell did I get myself into?” Laine sighs with a smile on her face. This is a good change of pace for her. She gets to leave mom duty at the door and live a little for herself.
