“Thanks, Harbor. I didn’t want to leave you hanging. I don’t even want to risk running into that nigga right now. So it’s best that I just stay away until I cool off. But if you need anything just shoot me an email.”

“Girl, I got you.” I insisted. “Take care of yourself.”

We hung up and I wanted a biscuit with some eggs, bacon and cheese on top. I went to work, preparing everything how I wanted it and sat myself at the counter as someone came in through the front door. I heard it slam shut and sat there curiously waiting. Footsteps started in my direction, and Ledge stood there like a creep. He was still in last night’s clothes and looked like he hadn’t slept much from his darkened gaze.

“Where’s Free?” he asked, hands in his pocket.

“He left, said he had some business to take care of.” I answered, taking a bite of my biscuit all put together.

Everything was fine until I tried to swallow, sudden nausea left me diving off the bar chair and toward the nearest trash can. I threw up my first breakfast and held on to the side of the bin while heaving anything left in my stomach. I tried to take in a couple of deep breaths before I turned to face Ledge. He was looking at me crazy like I had a deadly disease or some shit. I cut my eyes and used the back of my hand to wipe my mouth. Disgust covered his face next when I paused at the counter.

“You dying or something?” he asked, face scrunched up.

“Free isn’t here, you can leave.” I moaned, fighting the urge to gag even though there was nothing left inside me.

Ledge just kept looking me over skeptically. He pulled up a chair and plopped down.

“I’ll wait.” He insisted, and my eyes rolled.

“Maybe it’s you making me sick. I was fine before you got here.” I accused with a snarl.

He wore a blank stare as he reached across the counter for my biscuit. This nigga started eating my shit like I hadn’t just taken a bite from it.Asshole!

“Shit taste fine to me.” He shrugged and kept eating.

“What did you do to Chevy?” I asked, and his jaw stopped moving while he locked his eyes on me.

“Me and my girl ain’t none of your fucking business.” He countered bitterly.

“Well, she called me and told me she was taking a few days off. Said she was done with your trifling ass. So I was curious what you did. Personally, she’s probably better off without you.” I taunted him purposely since he wanted to come in here in his feelings.

I didn’t care one way or another if I set him off. We didn’t fuck with each other. No matter how my relationship had changed with Free. It still amazed me that they were actually friends since they were nothing alike. I knew from day one that they weren’t equal men. Ledge was cocky and so arrogant the shit was sickening. He thought highly of himself, and he was also intimidating as fuck. He was tall, with a little muscle, and actually wouldn’t be so bad looking if he wasn’t a damn sociopath.

“You don’t know shit about me or her,” he replied, his jaw full as he began chewing again. “You new to all this. So do yourself a fucking favor and stay out of my shit.”

“You know what I do know… women like consistency and loyalty. You don’t seem to have either of those qualities. She was forced to work with your side bitch, and somehow she made thebest of it. A lot of bitches would have said fuck it and you. I bet whatever it is, that bitch Kitana has to do with it. And she’s nothing but a cum chasing ass ho. That I am pretty sure of, and I don’t need to get to know her to validate that. So if the bitch stepped out of line and you didn’t check it, that’s your own fucking fault.” My words seemed to anger him, he cut his eyes across the counter like knives that were on fire.

“The fuck you know about what a woman wantslittle girl?” His voice was like a growl, and I straightened up where I stood. “You think because Frequency’s fucking you that gives you a voice around this mothafucka? How we know you ain’t just a cum chasing ho!”

“Knowledge!” That sturdy voice that I had come accustomed to belted through the air.

Frequency held up the doorway with his strong presence. I was still feeling like shit, barely holding myself up at the counter. Something was wrong.

“The fuck is wrong with you?”

“Just calling it how I see it, bruh.” Ledge slid off his stool and faced Frequency.

They squared up and neither backed down. The sight made me anxious, I didn’t know what was going to pop off. The tension in the room thickened.

“Well fuck how you see it. Let me tell you how it is.” Frequency interjected, both his brows dipping.

He inched closer so that he was right in front of Ledge.

“I don’t give a fuck what you or anybody else say. That’s me. If you can’t respect her … we ain’t got shit to talk about.” He explained calmly.

“That’s how it is?” Ledge checked with him. “A’ight. Just remember one thing, Free. Who’s always there for you when your back is against the wall? Who’s saved your fucking life ten times out of fucking ten! Now you want me to take a back seatto a mothafucka that can destroy every fucking thing we built! I tell you one thing… Kut was right about you. You make pussy a priority… and that shit always comes back to haunt you.”

He actually seemed pretty hurt.
