“I know you don’t want to hear this right now,” Thorn says. His voice going quiet, almost shy.

“But right now, even after these few months of putting up with me since you agreed to move in… You’re the prettiest, most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen. Prettiest thing I’ve ever known, Rose Maxwell,” he says, his smile proud now. Not just having fun.

I know he means it too.

Thorn doesn’t dish out compliments to anyone or anything. Not unless he really means it.

“So, you know then?” I ask, running a hand over my belly.

He shrugs and smiles as if to prove it’s silly of me to try and hide this anymore.

Especially from him.

Knowing I have our child inside me, but still feeling, I dunno, like he might not want to get this attached after all.

“Know?” he grins. “I’ve been waiting for you to tell me I’m gonna be a daddy for weeks,” he exclaims, hooking an arm around my waist and pulling me up.

“Why aren’t you excited, baby?” he asks concern in his voice as his hand presses over mine.

“I am, Thorn. I truly am, I mean. If I am pregnant…” I admit.

Like magic, he produces a test kit from the drawer under the sink. He taps it with a finger as he raises his brows suggestively.

Urging me to share his excitement.

“I just didn’t think, I mean. After all this time. Me living here, doing nothing in return. I don’t want you to feel-”

He frowns for a moment, pretending to look hurt.

“You mean, you didn’t think I’d want our baby, want you here with me forever? Here with us?” he asks, his voice quaking with emotion suddenly until it becomes the voice of authority.

The same emotions I’ve felt for so long, not wanting to push all these boundaries I’ve enjoyed for so long.

Thorn clears his throat, and I can tell he has a lot to say.

I just wish we could have this conversation someplace other than the bathroom.

But his firm hand over mine as he stays kneeling in front of me tells me it’s now.

Always and forever between us from now on. No matter what.

“Rose. I hope you do have our child inside you. I know you do, but I want you to know that I’ll be here for this time and the next time and the next time, and every time after that,” he says, comforting with his honesty.

But I think we both know this is happening.

“And before you say it before you doubt this whole thing another moment. I won’t have my children, our children living without a proper momma and daddy,” he adds.

A new glint coming into his eyes as he reaches into his pocket, producing a small velvet box which he puts into my hands.

“I don’t just want a momma for our kids, Rose. I want a wife. A best friend, a partner in everything we all do together. Always,” he says with determination.

My gasp is nothing over how I feel inside.

Opening the not-so-little lid, I know it’s a real diamond on a real gold ring.

Nothing like I’ve seen or felt on my hand before.

Just like Thorn.

Everything about him is a surprise, but perfect.

A treasure I never had before, an adventure waiting to be explored.

“Just say yes, Rose. Don’t even worry about the test,” he rasps. “And everything so going forward can be forever. Momma and daddy. Wife and husband. Our kids honey… our kids…” he says softer, almost choking up as he caresses my belly again.

The hug we share after the blue plus sign means more to me than anything else.

I knew, but he knew too. And that’s the kind of man Thorn is. A real man, knowing his woman as much as he knows himself, maybe better.

My worries, fears, and concerns from months ago are dissolved.

I gave myself to him, and he gave himself to me.

From that day, from day one, we belonged to each other and I know his promise to be protector, father and husband is as solid as the oath he has to his own club.

The Men of Valor MC.

That’s what they are, each and every one of them, but Thorn most of all in my heart at least.

Man of Valor.

Lover.

Father.

Husband.

My only.

Extended Epilogue

Two Years Later

Thorn

It took some doing, but putting a ring on Rose’s finger and convincing her this place was as much hers as it was mine actually worked.

After she said yes. Yes to moving in, yes to marrying me over anything else.

No kid of mine was gonna grow up without proper parents.

The family I never had outside of the MC.

I held her to it after that, not that she needed a lot of convincing once baby Jasmine arrived.

The petal of our lives until we had her baby brother, Jack.

These two. Three are my world now.

I’ve outsourced my own security business locally, with most nearby jobs staying in Valor, from the Men of Valor MC.
