Daisy watched him for a moment then she closed her eyes again and snuggled down to take a nap.Suddenly she was exhausted.
She barely fell asleep before someone sat on her bed.Opening her weary eyes, she found Torin was back.
He had a plate of scrambled eggs and toast along with two cups of coffee.
Daisy’s nose twitched as she inhaled the scent of good rich coffee and she tried to sit up but winced when her stitches pulled a bit from the movement.
Torin set the plate and the coffee down then helped her sit up putting a couple of pillows behind her back.“Is that better?”he asked.
Daisy nodded then reached for the coffee.Taking a sip, she gasped at the flavor.“Oh my God, that’s so good!”
Torin nodded then handed her the plate, “Eat.”He growled then he reached for his own coffee.
Daisy set her cup on the table beside the bed.Picking the fork up, she took a bite of the eggs.She groaned not only at the flavor but her belly growled as she swallowed the first bite of real food she’d had in days.She ate slowly as she didn’t want to have to rush to the bathroom.She’d gone days without food before and she had learned that lesson many times growing up.Raising up a piece of toast she nibbled slowly then looked at him.“Thank you,” she whispered softly.
Torin nodded and kept his eyes on her plate.When she finished he took it from her and set it on the floor.He took up his coffee again and leaned on the railing at the bottom of her bed.He studied her for a moment then he said, “I gave my dad the flash drive and he was looking at the files when I brought in your breakfast.”
“Did he say anything?”She wanted to know.
Suddenly, Pope’s body filled the doorway and he growled, “Oh yeah, I said Holy shit when I saw the files.Do you have any idea what your father and your brothers have up to in real life?I mean reallyknowwhat they are doing?”
Daisy set her empty coffee cup down and looked over at Pope.“Yeah I think I got a pretty good idea.I may not know the details but I got a glimpse of it and I hate it, almost as much as I hate them.”She paused, then asked, “Have you found the file on the Spawn yet?”
Pope nodded.
She sighed and looked down at her hands.“Then you know what they had planned was not right, don’t you?”
Pope again nodded.“Yeah honey, what they had planned might just come up and bite them in the ass if Satan ever finds out about it.”
Chapter Six
Daisy looked over atPope and nodded.“Maybe you should let him know then,” she spoke quietly.“Tell them just what they are getting into if they do business with Demon and his boys.”
Pope stared at her for a moment and finally replied, “Do you want to start a war, young lady?”
Daisy shook her head.“No, I want to try and stop one.My dad thinks he can’t be stopped, that he has all the power here.But I only want him to suffer, I don’t want him to think he can walk all over you and yours just because you offered me protection.I’d rather the only ones that get hurt are them and if Satan is as bad as you say he is, maybe he can go after my father rather than join him and come after you guys.”
