I can feel everything from her. The pleasure I gave her, the sense of relief she has over us bonding, and her love for me.
When I choke up a little bit Maisie pulls back, hands cupping my face as she looks at me, her own eyes watery.
“This was everything I could have ever dreamed of, Lain. I love you.”
“I love you so fucking much,” I tell her and she rests against my chest as we’re knotted together, both of us looking through the clear screen at the beautiful view and the relaxing sound of rain.
I kiss her head, feeling whole. She was the piece I didn’t know was missing, but now that I have her, I’ll do whatever I need to for her to be happy. I want to feel like this forever.
“No way, you’re crazy,” Maisie says, as I unzip the tent fully naked.
It’s a chillier autumn day and the breeze pebbles against her skin.
“I promise to warm you up right after,” I say, and she looks at me suspiciously. “When else will you be able to skinny dip ina waterfall? Plus, I’m sure there’s some sort of lore about fairies blessing you or something, too.”
“So you want me to get into freezing cold water because there might be some lore about fairies?”
“No, I want to take you into the waterfall, so now anytime I see one, I’ll just think of how sexy and beautiful my perfect little mate is,” I say.
“You don’t play fair, Lain…” Her eyes go wide. “Oh my God.”
“What?”
“We just bonded and I don’t know your last name,” she says with a gasp.
“Oh, then you definitely owe me a dip in the waterfall for that,” I joke, and she blinks at me. “It was Anderson, but I suppose now it will be Macleod with Greer being pack lead.”
Maisie bites on her lip, and I give her a look of shock. “Maisie, you didn’t know Greer’s last name either?”
“If I get in the water will you promise to never tell a soul?”
“Aye, your secrets safe with me.”
‘My hair can’t get wet.”
“Deal. I’ll protect your bonnie curls. Come on,” I say, holding out my hand. She still looks unconvinced, but she joins me.
She makes a little yelp and covers her perfect breasts as they bounce as we run over to the basin. I get in first and Maisie dips barely a toe in before shaking her head.
“Lain, that’s fucking freezing,” she complains, so I take matters into my own hands, grabbing her by the waist and taking her in with me, doing my damndest to not get her hair wet.
She nearly screeches in my ear and grabs me for dear life as the cold water surrounds us. Sharp pants escape her as she chokes me out, trying to keep as much of her body out of the water as possible. We both glance at the waterfall for a quick moment before I kiss her shivering lips.
“Fucking hell, it is cold,” I say, and she nods her agreement with wide eyes.
I carry her out of the water and tuck her into the bedding of the tent, and we use each other’s bodies for warmth.
It isn’t until sunset that we leave our bonding bubble.
Maisie carries some blankets while I handle the rest, both of us leaving the forest changed people.
“I think this might be my new favorite place,” she says dreamily as we leave and I wish I were touching her right now.
“Mine too, but I think anywhere I’m with you will be my favorite place.”
She gives me a wide smile and I feel her joy through the bond, and she must feel my own. I thought I couldn’t love the Highlands anymore than I already did, but somehow Maisie made it possible.
I’m a bonded Alpha and I’ll never take that gift for granted. We’re starting a new life together and I can’t wait to see where it takes us. One thing’s for certain, as long as I have my Omega and my pack it’s going to be a wonderful life indeed.
